Great product!
Our rescue dog had been locked in an apartment bathroom for 10-12 hours a day since he was 6 weeks old. When his owner decided to give him up at 8-1/2 months of age, he had raging hormones, had had no training whatsoever, no socialization, no shots--nothing. Needless to say, he was a wild child! Moving from a city apartment to 10 acres (2 of which are fenced homesite) with cattle, cats, poultry, children and another (grumpy & old) dog was sensory overload for him to put it mildly. Leash training went extremely well, he learned that counter surfing was not okay, we're still working on jumping up on people, and he does have a problem with submissive urinating on occasion. Those are workable and solvable problems though given some time. But despite our best efforts (and we are experienced dog owners), there were some behaviors that we just could not curb and these unfortunately were somewhat urgent as they were getting worse by the day. Best $50 I ever spent... honestly
I have a 60 lb 2yo Pit mix who is kept in a crate all day while I'm at work. When I get home he's starved for attention and shows it- he gets into EVERYTHING. It doesn't help I live in a 3 story house with 3 female roommates (and 2 cats) who leave trash cans unguarded, clothes on the floor, and doors open all the time. By the time I make it up the stairs to correct him, he's already ingested a tampon.... NOT SAFE. I've tried gates, positive reinforcement, offering alternatives like toys, Caesar's sounds and touches... he just doesn't listen.I finally broke down and bought this "shock" collar. Absolutely excellent. I'm a fairly picky person and expect that in today's technological times we can produce products that work and function properly. This product has been outstanding! Everything I need in an e-collar for a lot less money!
I've been using this for a few weeks now and so far it's been working great. I prefer to have my dog walk off leash in the trails behind our house but my dog has been known to run off if he catches a scent or spots another dog from far away. So, this e-collar has been a great way to keep him at bay while still giving him the freedom to roam around away from me and sniff things to his delight. I love how the collar and remote are both rechargeable (it would've been nice if they provided two AC adapters - I charge the remote one night and the next night I'll charge the collar). The waterproof design will come in handy when it rainsThe remote does shut off after a few minutes without use. While walking, I'll check the remote every few minutes to make sure it's on and if not, press the mode button to wake it up. I wish the remote had one button for vibrate and another button for shock but instead, you have to cycle through the modes using the mode button. It's not hard...

I am pretty happy with this collar. I have it on my blue heeler who is half demon and the shock stops him in his tracks every time. The shock setting goes up to 100 so dont be afraid to turn it up. The vibration and beep settings are pretty worthless on him but may be effective on a smaller dog that is not as tough/evil lol. He's only a 30-40 lb dog but he would walk me and with this collar he is doing awesome! The rechargable setting is pretty cool so I dont have to go out and keep buying batteries for it. This dog absolutely loves the water and the collar still works so far. It does have two frequencies to set it too for the wireless remote. So far I'd recommend this collar.

4 1/2 stars- Exactly what I needed
I have wonderful, sweet 5 month old pitbull. She is the perfect dog...well...almost. Her ONLY 2 flaws are the jumping and running to my neighbors yard. She's not aggressive in anyway and is super friendly with everyone. But I'm sick of her jumping. She jumps on people (bcuz she wants to kiss them or is curious with whatever you have in your hand, it was cute when she was little but she's growing soo fast), jumps on walls, jumps on my couch, jumps to see whats on the table, jumps to see whats on my counters and she starting to scratch up my cabinets :/. So I ordered this little device. I just got it today and it did say to charge the transimmiter as well as the receiver but I plugged it in for about 5 minutes each and slapped that collar on her. She kept going on my couch so I set the mode to vibrate and started at 10 (the intensity of the vibration can be increased or decreased, 1-100) I kept going up till she started to respond, I stopped at 50. After 4 years... eagerly buying my 2nd remote trainer
Four years ago, I purchased the PDT00-10603 generation of this product and I continue to be an avid consumer of this product. I am pasting my prior review below. But, I would like to provide an update on concerns over cruelty, which I go into with the prior review.I use the trainer to control my dog during hikes and it works. When I pull it out and place the trainer on the counter, my dog jumps up and barks with excitement. While it charges, she lies down and "baby sits" the charger. This demonstrates, in part, that Tobi does not have any issues with this device or concerns over cruelty. Life Saver!!!
My rescue dog is a Flat Coated Retriever. She has become more and more disobedient over the months since I have gotten her. I love her very much, but was at the end of my rope and was ready to return her after she repeatedly ran into the 55 mph road right off my acreage. She also found it necessary to run into the farmers field adjacent to my yard so she could entice the neighbor's 3 border collies in an aggressive attempt at dominance. Although I have huge yard, it would not be cost effective to fence in 12 acres. Let me also say that my dog KNOWS the commands, "come", "sit", "stay", "drop it", and "no". She would obey these commands indoors, but once we got outside, no amounts of cut up steak would entice her into obeying if she had seen or smelled a squirrel or rabbit. I had also attempted to change her behavior by asserting my dominance as the pack leader. If she disobeyed me, I would immediately tell her "NO", and make her lay down on her side for 10 minutes while I held...

Worked Great For Me
We got a young female hound mix from the ASPCA, and couldn't keep her in the yard. You know hounds: nose down and they're off. A neighbor suggested a radio collar.We bought this one. I didn't go through the training regimen. She was too timid to work with. All we did was walk her around the yard on a leash some, giving the negative tone and negative voice tones when she tried to leave the boundary. Within two weeks, I started using a long lead and giving a low setting shock along with the negative voice. Within a month, she ran free with the collar and no lead.It has been 8 months since we started with this product. We shocked her maybe 10 times TOTAL on setting 4. For the past 6, she hasn't left our property. We put the collar on every time she is out and not tied up. She rarely even tests the boundary, but a negative voice is enough to break her from a scent, another dog, or a person and have her head back to the middle of the yard with her tail...

WOW! AMAZING! ... UPDATED 12/09 & again Feb 2011
UPDATE FEBRUARY 2011:Just purchased another one, not because the current collar was broken or worn out, but the price dropped, and I know like all collars it will not last forever.Also, my dog's neck has surprisingly gotten larger and I have now added 2 more links. Given the OVERPRICED nature of the extra links, I figured it's cheaper (per link) to buy a whole new collar and have enough extra links and/or replacements if one or two wear out.ANYWAY - I have used this daily for years now, and it works great and the only rubbing/scratching on my dogs neck if from the second, nylon (standard) collar I always use (Just in case - on the off chance there is a problem with this collar and I need something to grab onto and hold. My dog is a true sweetheart who has thought he was a lap dog when I got him at 50 pounds and still thinks he is at some 50+ additional pounds more. For just the sheer weight and power, I keep a solid nylon dog collar on him...

Shoulder Relief
This collar was the best thing for our dogs as well for our arms and shoulders. The pinch collar does not cause any harm to our Husky/Chow or our Rottweiler. It provides a better experience for us during walks and when running with our beautiful dogs. These dogs are known for their powerful pulling capabilities and the collar helps them to control the urge to pull with all their might. I recommend this collar for senior citizens, kids, and handicapped dog walkers. Our dogs love their time out of the house and when they see us get the collars you can see the excitement in their eyes, they don't hide or growl at site of the collar. The steel prong collars need to be replaced by this non abusive dog collar!

Not For the Determined & Aggressive Puller; However--a mixed review
I have a pitbull-mix rescued from the streets of the Bronx who, I'm sure, has lived through hell. She is hyper-energetic and strong even at age 10+. I've always resisted using pronged collars but finally gave in after 8 years of exhausting walks and all kinds of training. The metal pronged collars takes the edge off and allows for a tolerable walk, but this collar is not effective because of the shorter "teeth" and her high pain threshold; however, it does work on my other larger dog who doesn't pull as aggressively, so whether this collar will work for you will depend on the age (younger the better), the nature of your dog, and--for obvious reasons--the thickness of the fur around its neck.

I wondered if these reviews were real or hype. But I read one review in particular and i went ahead and bought it. Great Product
We have owned more expensive collars in the past. We use them to keep our dogs in our lawn while they are outside. These collars worked right away and the dogs respond to them quickly. The collars are different colors and the remote is simple and easy to use. I would highly recommend these collars to anyone. They work everybit as well as the highter priced ones. We paid 1/5 of what we have on other collars.

I bought the Epica dog training collar for our two German shepperds. They are quite heady at times and bark at our neighbors. I started with the vibrating option which they promptly ignored. Next I used the first level of shock.That did the trick. Now I rarely need to use the shock . With just the vibrate they immediately become obedient.My friend has used a more expensive model , however the Epica seems to work as well and at times better than pricier options.

GREAT investment with lots of options!
We got this for our new lab puppy. He was 11 weeks old at the time. When we would call him in from the back yard he would ignore us as he chose to stay and chew on sticks, leaves and whatever else caught his attention. Having the choice of two sizes for the pins helped a lot, as the shorter ones were ineffective until he grew more into the collar. Being able to charge both the remote and the collar piece is awesome! We have only had to recharge twice in about a month. We love the feature of both the collar and the remote automatically shutting off if they aren't 'moving' to save on the battery. Having the option of shock, vibration or beeps is great but we found we had to go to the shock and it only took once! Now he comes right in with or without the collar on. The range of 1-100 gives a lot of room to use the least amount of pressure. Great experience and very effective for us and the pup.

Produced fantastic results
I have used this with my dog who was getting too smart for his own good. He would basically stay at a the edge of my fence and bark and bark, despite us yelling, calling, begging, and threatening. He wouldn't come when told and would chase after other dogs at the wrong times.After getting this collar on him, he is a totally different dog. I got my first compliment yesterday about how well he minds.I like the collar because it doesn't hurt him unless he is totally out of control. And eventhen, you can set it to be a mild "zap". It has 100 levels. So he gets a short, light "poke" and then turns right around and comes back.After having this for a week, he responds now to the "buzzing" setting which is vibration only. I can't believe I waited this long to get this. It produced a miracle in our dog in 1 week. His entire demeanor went from out of control puppy to super mature dog in literally 1 week.

Life saver
Can't believe how good it works. I have a Pitbull, Boxer mix and got him at 6 months and had him 8 months. I tried everything gental leader collar dog whisperer stuff and my own methods and I had dogs my whole life I'm 54. And he was very hard to control my wife coudn't control him at all.Well Just 5 days later hes a Pussy Cat whould recommend this to any one with a dog thats hard to deal with.
