I had a Braun 5414 which worked perfectly for 15 years. Yes, 15 years. The longevity was partly due to the fact that it could be plugged in while shaving, thus not overusing the battery.The Panasonic ES-LT41 (mine doesn't have the "K" after it, whatever that means) cannot be used while plugged in. We'll see if it, and this review, last 15 years. Check back often...Pros:Great at shaving. Sharp, efficient, easy to clean. And though Panasonic claims this unit can be cleaned with soap and water, I've always been hesitant to expose steel items to H2O because to me that just spells r-u-s-t. Common sense. I never ran the Braun 5414 under water. Safer and closer.
I have been through a lot of electric shavers. The one that I ended up as my favorite was a fourteen dollar foil shaver. Not only that it doesn't nick my chin, but it also sort of massaging my face with the vibrating motion. I can do that in the car while on a stop light waiting for my turn. And because it is not one of those expensive ones, I can also just throw it on the passenger seat when I am done.I never like the three rotary blades. They are the ones that cause nicks. Foil shavers have their blades inside and it will never cut you unless the foil is dented. The ES-LT41-k is a huge upgrade to my foil shaver. Tried Others..So Far The Best!
Have tried Norelcos triple-blade, no good. Tried the top of the line Braun, seemed to take too long to shave, and had to go over the same area 5 times to get a close shave (also VERY noisy)! The Panasonic Arc IV is very quiet, I can ACTUALLY HERE the stubble being shaved, and shaving only takes 5 1/2 minutes (I know this, because the shaver has a timer). I clean it in the stand 4 times/week, which keeps the shaver looking new every time I use it. I like not having to press it hard to my face, to get it to shave close (head is spring loaded, to give the correct amount of pressure). I just bought the cleaning cartridges, 3/$12.70 on Amazon subscriber program, and will have them sent every 6 months. Face still feels shaved after 8 hours (this is very strange, but nice).

Fantastic!
I have always been an opponent for an electric razor for a number of reasons, biggest one is that I have sensitive skin and without pressing really hard on my face, never seemed to get a close shave. After my friend got his, and after a recent visit to the big box store where I got to see a 40 dollar price tag on disposables, I was convinced to try. I opted for the most bang for my buck and a model that was wet dry, you can actually use shaving cream with this model, which helps to nearly eliminate the break in irritation of most razors. The shave I get in just 2.5 minutes (the razor has a timer) is so smooth and so easy, its sad to think of all the money and time I have wasted over the years on traditional shaving products. Fantastic shaver, fantastic value.

Get the cheaper model without the cleaning system
After using electric and cordless shaver models from Norelco, Remington and Braun, I settled on the wet/dry features of the Panasonic models. I replaced my first one with a 3-blade ES8092 6 years ago. It shaved closer than other models, was smoother and more comfortable on my face, and you could wash the heads. It no longers works well. I may just need a new head, but instead of spending up to $40 on a new head, I decided to check out the latest and greatest in new shavers.I didn't look seriously at the offerings from Norelco and Braun as I have been disappointed the performance of both those models and poor durability with Braun shavers. IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN BUY IT!!
I am 63 and my skin is a lot more tender and subject to cuts than when I was younger. I have been using electric razors off and on for about forty years - Primarily Norelco but also Remington, Braun and Toshiba. During those forty years I did not notice any significant change in the quality of the shave or the pulling, picking and burning that came from shaving certain facial sections over and over again. Panasonic takes electric shavers to a level that is comparable to a blade (which still gives the closest shave) without the mess and pain. I was not sure it was working until I felt the smoothness of the shave. Shaving is much quicker because there are few do overs and it does not irritate sensitive skin. A remarkable and greatly needed advance in electric shavers.Update November 15, 2011I replaced the blades and foil after 2 years. There was some improvement in performance but overall, a disappointment. Now it's just an average shaver. I don't know how...

Close, Smooth Shave
Best feature of this shaver is the close, pain-free, smooth shave. I would say 99% as smooth as razor, the difference is nominal - I can't tell the difference visually. I have a thick, tough beard and the Panasonic breezes through in very few passes. I get even better results on shaving the mustache than I do with my razor. The neck area is where the shaver has some difficultly. I think this may be because I shave in the shower and the shaving cream has a tendency to wash off. After a second application of cream I can get as close. No razor burn, no in-grown hairs (I do get these with razors). It takes a few extra minutes to complete the shave compared to razor (maybe 7-8 min vs. 5-6 min). All in all I am pleased with the experience and do not plan to move back to razor.*** UPDATE ***I still highly recommend this shaver for the quality of shave and positive experience with Panasonic. Panasonic vs Norelco
I purchased the Panasonic ES8103S and the Norelco 1150x at the same time and this review is a comparison of these 2 shavers side-by-side. I used both shavers for 3 weeks, shaving one side of my face with the Panasonic and the other side of my face with the Norelco. I didn't switch sides during the test to allow time to adapt to each shaver. Both of these shavers rated nearly the same amongst other Amazon reviewers and were the top-2 rated shavers under $100. I evaluated both shavers on a number of criteria:-- Shaving Performance: I found that both shavers did a relatively good job overall. However, the Panasonic performed slightly better on the flat cheek areas whereas the Norelco did slightly better on the curved areas around the jaw bone and neck. I found that the shavers required different shaving techniques. Panasonic quality at its finest
Ok, so this is my third Panasonic wet/dry shaver in about 5 years and, by far, this one is the best one yet. I've experimented with other manufacturers' shavers over the years, including Brauns, Norelcos and Grundig shavers, but I've ultimately found nirvana, ok, not quite nirvana, but a most pleasant shaving experience with Panasonic shavers. I love Panasonic's shavers because I like being able to shave in the shower with an electric shaver and a little glycerin based shaving foam (Gilette Series foam in the long silver tube works best for me and doesn't gum up the shaver like gels do). I swear, this unbeatable combination (i.e., shower steam, Panasonic wet/dry shaver and Gilette Series foam) shaves me closer than even the best blades that Gilette offers (at present, the Gilette Fusion) with far less irritation and with no annoying little cuts in conspicuous locations around my face and/or neck.Just to review, my first Panasonic wet/dry was great and served me well for...

Braun vs. Panasonic
My 3+ year old Braun 7526 Syncro with Clean and Charge finally had enough. Prior to that was a blade preceeded by a Norelco.Lets jump back a few years and share my history...I have always broken out with razor burn and ingrown hairs on my neck for as long as I started growing facial hair. Cheap razors were terrable so I asked for an electric. The Norelco made it easier to shave but still had the issues. Several months later it was back to the blade. Someone suggested a foil shaver and, after much hesitation, I purchased the Braun. Wow! What an improvement over the blade and rotory shavers. I have been happily using it daily for almost 4 years. Dare I say...almost enjoy shaving. Razor burn is almost non-existant unless you grind away in an area for too long a time (come back to the area 15 minutes later helps), ingrown hairs are 98% cured, and it shaved closer than a rotory with only a few passes. Terrific Shave!
I just received this shaver and found it to be the best electric shave I've ever had!Some history. I've shaved with a Norelco rotary for years. When the last one died and considering the cost of replacement heads I went to a Braun foil. I don't recall the model but it wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive. I gave it a full month and it was still - awful. I had to shave for 15 minutes and still wasn't happy, not to mention when shaving near the ears I nearly went deaf. I cleaned it up and gave it to my son.I ordered this one based on the wet/dry capabilities. Face prep? None. I just put on some shaving cream and in two or three minutes - smooth face. I guess it depends on your beard but my neck is always a problem area but this Panasonic did the trick. Back to Basics
I've tried all levels of Panasonic shavers over the last few years. Some were really pricey and had a lot of features. Some were really basic. All were very high quality. I found, however, that I use them all the same way, regardless of what I paid for them and what features they had. I wash my face, I apply shaving foam and I shave. Afterwords, I take the head off the shaver and turn the sink water on high and rinse the head off, give it a shake and dry it on a towel. Every week to ten days, I recharge it. I didn't use the automatic cleaning station for long on the shaver that featured it. Way too much trouble and expense buying those washer cartridges. I never seemed to have a new cartridge when I needed it anyway. I got the same result just rinsing the heads with water after shaving. Same with the flexible head feature. After reading lots of reviews, then buying it, i'm still happy.
So, i think i read just about ever single review for this product before buying it (the BG2040 model) and as well the model below this one the BG2030. What i really liked about the BG2040 is that all the attachments are on the shaver. this means that if i want to use the comb attachments to shave hair to a certain length i don't have to hunt for or even change anything on the shaver. Its al there already, and i love that! i really dont like buying shavers with like twelve attachments... lame. This is a very simple product and does a great job at shaving. i've used the shaver in every way it was designed for and for all areas of the body. And it really does a great job all over.Now as far as shaving "below the border" it was a bit frightening at first but after actually doing it, it was actually no worry at all. Worked great. Though you do have to still be careful. Don't expect that you can just go shaving down below with your eyes closed and half hazzardly expecting to come out...

Has become my everyday shaver
At first I was a little reluctant to like this shaver but after using it for a few weeks I really have come to like.As you can see in the pictures and read in the product description details on one end it includes an adjustable trimmer with five different settings to trim beards, mustaches, sideburns, etc.. I have used it for various areas of body hair and have been very happy with the results. I even used it for a quick facial shave (It was an emergency) and the results weren't too bad.Each end has its own on/off button so there isn't any confusion.
