Fisher-Price Cradle Swing: STARLIGHT
After reading all the reviews on this site, I was a bit confused since Amazon has lumped together the reviews for several different types of swing in one area. This review is specifically for the Starlight swing.First, Amazon gets bonus points from me for getting me the swing in three days even though I chose the free shipping option (and I live in Hawaii!). I was so glad I didn't have to wait nine days for it.I have to say, I love this swing! It was easy to put together. It didn't take more than twenty minutes to assemble, which was fabulous since my baby was eagerly awaiting its completion so he could hop in it. He's almost four weeks old and has always been a difficult sleeper, so I was hoping this swing would be a lifesaver for me.So far he hasn't fallen asleep in it (although he's only tried twice), but if I get him to sleep and then put him in it, he sleeps so much more peacefully and a lot longer. Normally he falls asleep and I have to hold...

Baby and I like this Swing
I recently received this swing as a gift for my 2 month old preemie. She LOVES the lights, the rotating stuffed animals, and the sounds. And she seems comfortable in the seat too. The seat snaps into two positions, a reclined position and a sitting position. Additionally, you can set the swing up to go from side to side or forward and backward.I did have an incident last week where we had some power surges here in the neighborhood WHILE we were using this swing. When the power came back on, I tried all the different switches to turn it on and it didn't work, then later on, it finally did work. This swing has so many switches on it and I admit to being too lazy to read the instructions for all of the functions that each of the switches perform. That said, I don't know if the failure was user error or a quality issue. It appears to be functioning just fine as of this writing so I think it was me.Another user cites instability of the stand on this swing...

Best swing!
We originally had the graco sweetpeace swing which was the worst purchase EVER. We went through 4 of them before I was like that's it! I decided to pick this up and I am glad I did!! My daughter is 10 months and still fits in it but we put it away for the next baby. But this was the best, it's so soft..the motions are so soothing. It's an overall really good product. I'm sad to hear that other reviewers had a bad experience but everyone I know has this swing with no issues. Fisher price has one of the best customer service I have ever seen so they will exchange out for a new one asap. I highly recommend this to new parents- you won't be sorry!

Much better than the Graco Silhouette Line!
I don't write many reviews on Amazon, but my wife and I felt that this one really needed one, especially since there are no reviews yet. We originally purchased a Graco Silhouette based on the Baby 411 book. After the first use, we were skeptical - it didn't soothe at all, actually it made him more upset. We tried multiple times again, even when he was quiet, but to no avail. Every time we put him in, it was the same result - he cried. We ended up returning the swing and assumed that our baby didn't like swings. Fast forward a month and we thought we'd give it another shot, so we purchased the Snuggabunny. We're so glad we tried again, because he loves the Snuggabunny! He can literally go from crying to sleeping within a couple of minutes. It could be that he is now a month older and that he likes swings more, or but what I'd like to believe is that this swing is much better than the Graco Silhouette line!Here are some of the objective things I've noticed that...

Fantastic swing
I absolutely love this swing. I have no complaints as it is... cute, sits in a comfy reclined position, plush texture against babies delicate skin, has multiple speeds to swing, sturdy allowing you peace of mind your little one is safe, pleasant melodies and it plugs in. I'm all for any baby product that doesn't take batteries, Duracell is getting enough of my money as it is.LOL. I have a baby due in Feb. 2011 and a 15mo old son that is into everything. Once the swing arrived I put it together and let him try it out. (I wont be putting him in this swing again nor do I recommend anyone else doing so with a baby this age, its not safe as he could fall and get hurt trying to get out.)Just the same I had to add that tidbit in here since he loved it so much he went to sleep within 5 min of being in it with a sweet peaceful look on his face. Now that is a priceless moment that proved to me this swing is worth every dime spent on it. I would highly recommend this product to anyone I know...

Phenomenal Swing!
I am so glad that we spent the extra money and bought this swing. I put this swing together in about 30 min while I was 35 weeks pregnant and on modified bed rest. It was a cinch, and the directions were self explanatory. I never had the slightest problem.The design and color of this swing is a perfect match for our homes decor and paint. The swing itself feels sturdy and comfortable. The cover comes off easily to wash and the mobile is just enough to keep baby entertained but not restrict the view for him to look else where and for us to see him. The seat comes off so easily and turns directions without any effort. It is so easy to place the seat back on the swing, no need to jostle baby around. I was very pleasantly surprised how high the seat actually sits up off the floor when not on the swing. It is almost chair or couch height which is perfect. It is also good if you have pets walking around. All in all we are so pleased with this swing. If I had to pick one thing...

Its lovely textural touches include wood-finished handles, satin accents, and embroidered detailing on the cover, as well as on the mobile toys, which are cute and stylish. The toys include two plush dragonflies and a plush turtle, topped with matching umbrellas. It stands on a sturdy, dark brown, metal frame that's heavy enough to provide good support and security. Not only is this swing good looking, it also makes a great choice for unisex decorating.

Easy Assembly, Sturdy Construction
The swing took us less than half an hour to assemble and required only a Phillips screwdriver. One minor problem: we had to re-thread the mobile so it could hang properly. The assembled swing has a 26-by-33-inch footprint and stands 47 inches tall with the mobile attached, so it takes up quite a bit of room. This is something to consider if you have limited living space. However, the base folds together easily, so you can lean it against a wall when it's not in use.

Great swing. Ambiguous instructions
I will agree with the previous reviewer that the assembly instructions leave a bit to be desired. In particular:1. The infant seat legs can be installed backwards (and it looks like it would take a screwdriver plus a lot of elbow grease to ease the locking "tabs" back out to separate the parts again -- I was lucky and guessed right the first time)2. There's some white foam wrapped around the inner support bars of the seat frame that have a "do not cut" sticker on them. That does NOT mean "find some other way to remove this packing material besides cutting it off".. those styrofoam pads are supposed to STAY on the bars (as cushioning since they are right next to the baby under the seat material), so DO NOT REMOVE THEM at all. The tubes are white (i.e. don't match the rest of the swing) which makes it look as if they don't belong in the assembled product at first, so it would be easy to mistakenly rip them off in the initial frenzy of unpacking.3. Beautiful floating butterflys....
I love this swing!The floating butterflys keeps my baby girl in awe. The ability to switch the seat in 3 different positions and it leans way back. My only compliants: the swinging knock can interupt your child if he/she is cranky. The music seems not to flow right, just about when my baby is about to fall asleep the few relaxing songs end and then something upbeat comes along and she wakes up, so I just keep it on the nature sound which is very plesant to listen to. I've had this for about a week now-the buttons already seem to have a few weak spots-sometimes the light doesnt want to quite turn on right away, the music wont start.Other than my little issues its a beautiful swing!

LIFESAVER!! Baby & I love this Sugar Plum Swing
I love this product. I really dont know what I would do w/out it. It really has been a lifesaver. When nothing works to soothe her this swing is like magic. She just turned 2 months & still will only sleep with either me with her or in her swing. She does not yet like to sleep in her $1500. crib or her bassinet which is next to my bed. She loves the light show & mobile, she just stares & smiles. the music is great w/ volume control. I also love that she will be able to use this for so long. The white tray pops off easily which I love because she wont be needing or using it for a long time. The only thing I dont like but doesnt bother her is you can hear the motor when you have the swinging set on. Its not that loud & you can drown it out w/ the music. It doesnt bother me but would be nice to have a quite motor. And actually even the sound of the motor soothes her. With that said I still would not trade it for any other swing. I love it & more importantly my daughter loves it. She has...

Perfect swing!
I LOVE this swing. Color scheme is so beautiful....thank you fisher price for ditching the ugly pink! Very very easy assembly, everything works flawlessly, swing motor is not loud at all and what sound it does make is soothing and rhythmic for baby. All the features are just wonderful and I especially love the power cord option verses batteries. The fabric to the swing is very well made and nicely padded. I got my swing at babies r us for $169.00 minus $34 off with their popular 20% off coupon they mail out or that you get with your receipt after making a purchase in store. Great swing but a little loud
This swing is super cute. I love how it lights up and how the flower things go up and down. You can also move the swing in three different positions. The only down fall is when it's swinging it makes a clicking sound and also it swings a little faster than I'd like it to. My daughter loves this swing.
