Best non-DIY lighting you can get
This light is fantastic. Uses very little power but bright and gives a fantastic look to the aquarium. Shimmer effect is awesome. Plus you can turn the blue lights on at night to see fish at night without interrupting them. Great for my black ghost knife and any other nocturnal fish.Its very slim and sleek - when resting on the aquarium the top of the light is maybe 1.5 inches from the glass - very low profile.The only problem - the blue night lights run all day with the regular lights, but are on the same switch, so you cant set a timer to make it so all the lights are on all day and the blue all night, you have to manually switch on the blue to use it. It will be relatively simple to install a new switch to do this, but requires time, parts, a new power supply, voiding warranty, etc ,etc. Would have been much better if they were separately controlled.I bought the 48" LED for my 4 foot tank, and it looks great, but I sometimes wish I had gone with the...

Truly Impressed and very happy
I have a 55 gallon aquarium, 48" long rectangular. Nothing special. For a long time I've had a 48" fluorescent twin tube light, but was getting algae. The "Pet Store Guy" said to turn my lights on more, and it should help get rid of the algae. The only problem, my bulbs were as old as the fixture, and not putting out the UV light they need to in order to kill the algae. He did say that if my bulbs were old, it may not help that much. He was right. When I started looking at replacing the bulbs, they were $15-$20 each. That means $80 a year. He mentioned LED lighting, and so I started looking.When I saw this, I realized it would pay for itself in just over 2 years. Pretty cool! I couldn't 1-click buy this fast enough.When I put it on my setup, it took a bit to get used to the lighting. The Marineland Double Bright is pretty blue intensive. Bright!
This light is super bright. i had the single bright led lights and took them back because they were not bright enough. these lights are almost as bright and a 500 watt halogen shop light!!! i had an issue with the power transformer that plugs into the wall. so i called marineland and since they warranty their products for one year they sent it out in the mail for free and it was great customer service. they didnt even ask for a recipt or ask any questions just sent it out!!! :)

Great Lighting Kit
I tried a couple of under cabinet lighting kits before I tried these...others were either too dim or too bulky for what I was trying to do. These lights were by far the easiest to use & install; no screws, no batteries and no hassles. Everything should be this simple! The "Starter Kit" as I call it comes with everything you need. The remote is easy and intuitive, just remember to take out the battery protector. We put these in the corner, under the cabinets and it really offers a lot of light. My wife likes the various colors and at night we dim them to their dimmest setting so we can see around the kitchen without having to turn on the overhead lights (what a waste of electricity, all 12 of them!). Very nice when you wake up in the middle of night and want a drink of water! We have granite countertops, so the various colors really bring out the colors in the granite and wood cabinets. And because the lights are so thin (really thin), you can't tell where the light is coming...

Insanely bright- impressive
I have to say I wasn't expecting the brightness given off by these multi-colored leds. They're by far the most amazing leds I've ever seen - perhaps 10K+ on the MCD scale to use the fancy techno jargon. And the fact that each SMD led is a tri-color meaning you can basically get any hue you desire is equally amazing.And so this starter kit should be perfect for hooking up auxiliary lights to your home, rv, camper etc. The wall-wart (the square black power supply) indicates this kit is DC and so would work in a variety of situations - even your car.Unfortunately, there's a couple of small but important gripes I have. Firstly the starter kit is woefully inadequate in terms of extension wiring - in fact there's no extension included! So you can hook up your two strips directly to each other or just use one. There's no way to separate the strips, so if you were using this kit to mount under kitchen cabinets you'd have to purchase extra wiring before you even begin...

great buy
This is not a molded pond but a liner. I am going to put mine in landscape timbers above the ground. I have dealt with a huge below ground one for years and it is getting harder to bend all day to clean. Now I can sit on a cart and do it. Plus hopefully no run off from rain, or snakes. My neighbors live up hill so their un-raked leaves end up in my pond or paper. Then it gets slimy and I fall in. lol this way small children can sit and no one falls in. Or if you want it in ground you go. 10 years of a 18'x 54'x3' is enough this one is a dream come true.

Several thingsThe product recieved is not as shown in the picture, either on the box or on the web site.The picture depicts a second level to the pond with an additional fountain head in the second level.The diagram and the contents of the product, show no second level and only one fountain head.Second , The diverter,a small plastic part, for the fountain head was broken upon receipt.Upon calling the manufacturer I was directed to send the entire package .approx 40lbs. back to Amazon.The pond seems to be of good quality so I reordered after returning the original.

The Definitive Source for Marine Fish Information
This book is an absolutely amazing collection of useful information on marine fish. It is expected to be done in 3 vols. with each focusing on certain families only. It includes a chart of compatibility, ease of keeping, feeding needs, etc. that is better and more succinct than ANY book I have seen anywhere on the topic. Vol 1 even has a seahorse section that is more practical and complete than any dedicated seahorse book I have seen. This is great for beginners and also highly informative for veterans. WELL worth the price.

This book covers an overview of the ecology and natural history of coral reefs and their inhabitants. It also covers the requirements of fish for keeping in aquariums, what they eat, tank requirements, water requirements, taxonimy, and where they come from. This book contains photos that can't be found in most other literature. Over all, this is an excellent companion for any reef hobbyist, scuba diver, or anyone else interested in life on coral reefs. I have been in the hobby for 16 years and take it from me, this book is well worth the money!

Great book for the families of fish represented
After reading the glowing reviews and getting a quick perusal of the book at the local aquarium shop I asked for this book as a Christmas present. In many ways this first volume is all I expected, a thorough review of many of the species of fish in the covered families with plenty of nice photos. The book also describes care and feeding.The downside, and something I didn't pick up while thumbing through the book in the aquarium store, is that this is the first book of a 4 part series. Which means the book only covers approximately a third of the common reef fish families. And worse yet, although the author states that the primary audience the book is directed toward is aquarists, it appears that the majority of fish families presented in the first volume are more of the less commom species of fish kept by reef aquarists. The first volume contains fish like eels, catfishes, lizardfish, toadfish, frogfish, squirrelfish, sea moths, pipefish, seahorses, scorpionfish, etc., not...
