Good for what it is made for.
Forgive me if I seem a little preachy, but quite a bit of people misunderstand what this tool is for: this is a high speed, LOW torque (in other words, do NOT apply excessive pressure), LOW amp (not much mechanical power), multi functioning rotary tool. Dremel will most likely NEVER make a rotary tool that is high speed high torque, high amp, because that's not their niche. This is for weekend warriors, do it yourself-er types, this for crafts and hobbies, this is NOT an industrial grade spinning tool, if that is what you are looking for, get a die grinder, angle grinder, flexible shaft motor tool, get high powered electric or pneumatic, Milwaukee, Foredom, Ingersoll Rand, something else, not Dremel. You'll only be disappointed if you go the Dremel route with that expectation.For Dremel's, you let speed do the work. Unless you are dealing with plastic or wood, something that melts or catches aflame, then go for high speed. Slow down on metal, speed up in ceramic (don't quote me...

Love it !!!... great value too!
I was originally going to buy a rotary tool and all of the accessories separate. But this package deal has everything I wanted. If you want all the accessories, I recommend this package. I added it all up, and it saved me around $75 compared to buying everything separate. Probably even more if I had to pay shipping on some of the accessories.There are three things I don't exactly like about it though, but they aren't too bad if you know about them ahead of time.First, the threads to attach the flex shaft, planer, or finger grip are plastic. I have a very strong grip, and am always twisting things very very tight. I twisted a little too hard when attaching the planer and broke some of the threads on the rotary tool itself (which cannot be replaced without replacing the whole tool by the way). So, just be careful and don't over tighten attachments, and you will be fine.Second, the tool is surprisingly heavy and is pretty big. It makes it hard to do...

Time Saver
Handy tool to get into places larger tool are unable. The example I most recently had was the repair of a rotary spreader but couldn't get it apart because of bolts coroded and rusted by fertilizer and time. I was able to cut the bolts because of the small size of the tool and was able to get to the bolts and cut them quickly too I would add because of the speed. I have many futue uses for this small and powerful tool.

Dremel does it right again.
My old dremel finally bit the dust after 30 years of service so I needed a new one. After reading some of the negative comments I was a bit worried about this one, but decided that I would give Dremel my business again since the last one had last so long. I also wanted the flex shaft attachment and the right angle attachment [and that German unit did NOT have a right angle attachment for sale and people really trashed their flex shaft attachment]. Well, so far so good. It is actually quieter then my old one, and I have already used and fallen in love with the right angle attachment - wished I had bought one years ago]. I also wonder how many people that complained about the flex shaft did not run it for two minutes in a vertical configuration before usage each time? Manual says to do that and it helps to work the storage kinks out of it and likely keeps it running cooler with less issues. And the case was built to hold all of that stuff, so I now have it consolidated into one box,...

This is my second Dremel. My first was battery operated. What a difference the cord and power makes! Also bought the drill press and diamond bits. Works great for drilling holes in glass. Have used it every day since I purchased it.

A little too big but solid performance.
Many people may be wondering if they should get Dremel 4000 for their holiday gifts and have been looking for detailed reviews so here is my contribution.I received my Dremel 4000 a month ago and so far used it for moderate work with cutting and shaping sheet metal (soup cans etc) and very light work with drilling and shaping plastic. So far it's been working great. 4000 works fine with all the speed setting as they advertise. It seems like they solved the problem with the lower speed setting. The speed changes in a little increments rather than smooth transitions. In a way, it feels a bit like digital but I see no problem here.My only complaint is its size and weight. Probably it's OK for rough work but for detailed work it strains my hand after some time (my hands are small). It probably makes sense to invest on flex shaft and foot pedal if you are going to do a lot of detail work with this machine. The engraver's handle that comes with this particular set...

Works great.
This tool works as expected, flawlessly. I picked up two high speed cutters for use on a custom air filter backplate. Speed variability seems like it would fit anyone's needs. The cord on it was around 3-4' long. The bits with it are nice, but if you are looking for something in particular you can probably find a more suitable one. Only complaint is that it doesn't always seem to turn on at the lowest setting. This isn't really a problem since you can turn it on higher and slow it down. I am not sure if I got one with a finicky switch or not. Regardless I would buy again.Got it from a local dealer because I didn't want to wait for shipment, however amazon was cheaper.

Very Useful -- Very Dangerous!
This is the first "dremel" tool I've ever owned. I've had it for less than a year, and I've already used it to do a variety of jobs around the house -- mostly involving cutting openings in drywall. It is very durable and comes with basically one of each bit. Replacements are sold separately, like at Lowes. I've used it for lawn mower sharpening, cutting copper pipe, old-job box installs, etc.My only issue with this tool, and it may be true for all "dremel" tools across the board, is that there is no dead-man-switch. There is absolutely no safety on this device what so ever. Imagine if your corded/cordless electric drill had a top-mounted On-switch instead of a trigger. Or your circular saw just kept whirling away if you released your hand. Now, imagine what would happen if you just happened to drop it while using it. Yeah! That's this tool! The bit spins so fast! This thing would easily go through flesh without even thinking about it. It could easily scratch...

Excellent Home Improvement tool
After browsing through instructables.com, it has come to my notice that almost every DIYer has a dremel. I was doubtful after reading many reports of the torque problems however this dremel can readily deliver with its high rpm. I have used this tool months after months of cutting steel, aluminum, as well as shaping molds for use. This is a must have tool for anyone that wants to enter the world of DIY.The build quality of this product is excellent however I do have one quirk about it, the shaft locking mechanism is plastic and not metal which poses a worry for me in the future. Another con is that the tool cannot be operated for periods of 20 minutes or longer or else risking overheating. However any good DIY can handle this with care. Another huge mistake made be lots of people is that they force the tool and I'm here to report that thats not true. Just ease the tool into the groove and let the speed do the rest.

little utility grinder
This is a comparison review between a 300 series coorded dremel, and this Bosch 1210 utility grinder. The review is intended for people who may not know much about die grinders or rotary tools in general.Initially all I really wanted was a dremel, a tool to get into tight spaces to grind bolts off, maybe cut some steel pipe under a sink, use small bits to sand or grind paint/burrs off metal, etc.I got this at a pawn shop, for $35. I got the Bosch 1210 die grinder for $100 on an amazon Christmas sale. So now I can compare them for anyone wondering what the difference is.The 1210 is 4.6 amps. Dremels are 1.15 amps. That means you can push the bosh about 4x harder, with bits 4x as big, or run it 4x as long before the motor burns out. The 1210 is also about 4x bigger than a dremel, and 4x heavier. And finding attachments for the 1210 is also more difficult, and 4x more expensive. For example 4 burrs for a die grinder will run $30, while a 160 attachment...

Great little tool
This is such a great small tool for those hard to get at places and special projects. I use this for a variety of things that I got good results and would have had to use a larger tool for and not have gotten good results. The best part is there are so many attachments that you have one for just about any task.
