We have a young, 15 lb. Doxie/Jackie mix who has a LOT of energy. We bought this pen primarily so we could use it as a barrier between rooms, and it works great for that. We use one of the end sections as a "door" for us (and him) that we set against the wall when we want to close off the room; we stretch three of the adjoining sections in short "V"s for the length of the room opening; and then we "fold" the remaining partitions together and set them against the opposite wall. It is completely free standing this way, which means it doesn't rub against the walls (unless our dog jumps against it, which he has been known to do--but it doesn't fall over when does this because of how it's propped against the wall, and that's important). We've also used it as a pen, and it worked great for that too. We wondered if our little guy would be able to knock it over when it was in its pen shape, but if he tried, it didn't come down. Perfect for my French bulldog..
We love this pen. It is large enough for the puppy and for an adult or child to sit in and play with the dog. When opened up it spans a very large entry to the great room in our home giving us the ability to confine her to an area of the house. It is strong and sturdy and although she is a puppy I can imagine her using it even as a 30lb adult dog. For larger dogs, I definitly would consider buying the taller 30" or more. This pen is extremely well priced and after shopping around at local pet stores this one was positively the best deal ever.

The Best You Can Buy!
Researched in ground fence systems extensively and purchased the SportDog system for my ¾ acre property. Glad I did. Easy to install with quality hardware........unlike other systems I looked at. Purchased primarily for our Lab puppy, but also purchased two smaller compatible collars for our two miniature wiener dogs. It maybe took a day or so for all of our dogs to associate the flags with the boundary. System has multiple settings, so you can set a vibration, beep, then mild shock. I think our dogs were shocked once each. Now, when they get close to the boundary flags, the (non-shocking) vibration is enough to alert them to turn around. $220 is a bargain for the peace of mind in knowing that my dogs will stay in the yard.

Does the job!
I have a Labrador retriever who is about 4 months old and an adult boston terrier. We had trouble with them going to neighbors houses to get petted, or the boston would run after other dogs in the neighborhood. So, we decided to go with this underground fence after extensive research of other brands. I'm very satisfied with our purchase- the installation took about 3-4 hours total.We installed the fence on approximately 3/4 of an acre. My husband used his tractor and lowered 1 of the 4 plow feet on a box blade attachment to dig the trench around the yard. This was VERY simple and took about 20 minutes. Then we just placed the wire in the trench and buried it, which took about an hour and a half or so. Take note, we had to twist wire back to the box across a spot in our yard so the dogs could run across it without getting shocked. We also had to place it across our driveway, so my husband used a skill saw with a masonry blade to cut a line across it. After laying the wire...

Two different dogs two different stories!
I have two medium size mutts. Chase is laid back but loves to run and play and Rufus is a very timid and scared of alot.First off let me say this make sure the range is adjusted on the box before putting the batteries in the collars. My husband was holding the collar in his hand inside the house (far away from the lines) and got shocked on the 5th level! Ouch! We readjusted the range to two feet from the line and truned the collar down to level 2 after that.I think the range came out of the box set on 40 feetI took chase out on a leash and let him lead me to the perimiter rather than me taking him over there and tossing a toy or treat across the line like youre instructed too. It only took him 2 times of trying to cross over the fence before he realized that he didnt wanna go anywhere near those flags. This product no doubt saved our beloved dog
We've had this product for about 3 years, and absolutely love it. We live on a fairly busy street, and even though we have a fenced in back yard, our schnauser always found a way to get out. We even tried a screw type of stake in the back yard however, within a month, he figured out how to unscrew it from the ground. After that, we used the same steel cable to attach him to the garage, he somehow snapped the cable!It was when we went looking for him after the cable snap, that we saw him down the street, crossing the street directly in front of a car! Our hearts both jumped and we decided right then and there that since nothing else had worked, we were going to get an electric fence.We went to our local Menards, and found the SD-2000. It was on sale, so we went ahead and got it. Now, don't let anyone fool you, putting this thing in is no easy chore. It took us a few days to bury the wire for it. Stubborn Dogs Meet Their Match!
I have two Alaskan Spitz on six acres of chainlink fenced land. I also have ten cats the two dogs have pretty much raised like their own - and they are all crazy about each other and are all "outside" animals. Normally the dogs are well-behaved but they have thick fur to match some thick headedness, and are stubborn as mules when they want to be.A while back people began moving into a new adjoining subdivision, and also began letting their dogs roam freely despite city ordinances. Of course, it was too much for my dogs to see other dogs roaming freely where they couldn't go. Soon they started getting out and learning how others got around fences. I finally had to chain them inside my fence, to keep them home - after having never had any problem like this from them in the past. Of course, the cats went everywhere and the dogs wanted to follow them, but mostly only because they are protective of them. At least the cats know to stay in the yard when other dogs are...

Excellent system - Easy to install
We have a 6 foot stockade fence on a .5 acre space that we thought would be sufficient with a 3yr old Husky and a 1 year old Golden Retriever. We had constant issues with them digging holes at the base of the fence to escape and chewing on the wood. I ordered this system as a backup to deter them from doing any more damage. I found it was easy to install right to the outside of the existing fence without the need for a lot of wire burying and we were able to setup the collars and start training the same day. I placed the flags visibly along the inside perimeter of the fence and made sure to point them out to the dogs during the training. It only took one or two warnings from the collar to correct their behavior. Collars have 5 settings so it is easy to adjust the level of correction based on the size of dog and the thickness of their coat. Saved my Siberian despite my dislike of Neg. Stimulus
(Comment was also left in response to a negative review about the Humane Contain 8000)I purchased the High Tech Pet Humane Contain X-10 Rechargeable Multi-function Electronic Dog Fence which is essentially the same product with a more advanced collar to be able to operate all the products High Tech Pet has. I am NOT a fan of electric fences for dogs, however, I have a stubborn Siberian who kept escaping our yard and running over to the neighbors and killing their cats. We had to do something. (Our physical fence is 8 feet high and has a two stage barrier, meaning she has to get past a security fence placed around the original fence. Rebar was placed 4 inches appart along the bottom of the fence and she was still escaping [we live on 5 acres]).Setup took 2 hours and the RX-10 collar was charged out of the box. I know this because I tested it on myself several times before putting it on my dog. I am a trainer myself and will not use negative stimulus training unless I know...

Exactly what we needed
Ordered this system after looking at 20+ fences. We have a 9 month old, 55 lb lab that kept jumping the fence in our backyard to play with the neighbor kids. Installation took about 3-4 hours. After placing the flags and showing the dog where the safe border was, we put the collar on. After 2 or 3 zings, she quickly learned not to get too close to the flags. We've had the fence installed about a month now and couldn't be happier. Our lab can now use her doggie door to come and go as she pleases without needing constant supervision outside. She wears the collar all day comfortably and we take it off while she's crated at night. I've charged the collar every 3 or 4 days just because but I'm sure that's a little overkill. Highly recommend this system! It's a safe and easy way for a happy dog AND happy owners.

Electronic Fence
My family and I bought this as a way to keep the dog contained to one section of our back yard without putting up a chain link fence inside our wooden fence. The product has been mildly successful in achieving this goal.The product overall seems to work but the collar is of very low quality. There is a small black plastic piece that is used to close and tighten the collar. This little piece came off and broke within 15 minutes of putting it on my dog. Then the entire bracket came off and we were left to trying to "Rig" the collar to stay on. Of course this worked for about a week and now we have our dog back in areas we do not want her. I am not sure who came up with the latching mechanism for this collar but it should definitely be replaced with one solid piece like you find on most dog collars.As far as containing the dog, when the collar actually stays on, it seems to work. No longer skeptical
I was somewhat skeptical whether the inground fence would work for my dog. She is a 5-year old Shichon that loves to chase squirrels, rabbits and cats. We decided to give it a try and installed the system about a month ago. During the initial training I had the collar set to "2" on the 1 to 5 scale and it didn't do much. Then I set it to "3" and allowed her to venture past the white flags. She gave a small yelp and immediately came back in the yard and headed for the house. It took a few days for her to be comfortable in the yard again. But now, a month later, she loves going out and we don't have to worry about her running off. When she sees rabbits or squirrels she keeps a very close eye on them and may chase a little, but once she gets close to the boundary she stops.I've heard many comments about the RFA-188 battery in the collar not lasting very long so I ordered a couple spares, but I'm still on the original battery and it seems to be holding up great. Fantastic!
We have 2 beagles whose noses would lead them anywhere. They dag under the chain link fence before, run at the slightest sound to see what it is, so I was leery about this product where there was no "visible" fence to keep them confined safely. However, it works like magic! Once trained (which did not take long at all - they figured out that they cannot go past the flags really fast after getting corrected a couple of times), they stay perfectly confined in the little dog area. We were very comfortable taking off the chain link fence and knowing that the dogs would stay put. Even when we are walking around past the perimeter and they want to be with us, they stay behind the flags. When they run after noises, they stay behind the flags.The only drawback was that the battery for one of the collars was already dead when we got it. Luckily, we received two extra batteries so that was not so much of a problem.One nice feature is that the collar correction...

Very Good Value for the effort of instalation
We purchased this product after receiving quotes for invisibile fences costing $1,300. The instalation is easy and anyone can do it. All you need is typical side walk edger to cut a slit in the ground to stick the wire in. We installed the main unit in the garage and drilled a hole thru the wall for the wires. I purcased conduit separately to protect the wire until it reached the ground. You should also consider purchasing asphault filler to cover the wire along the gap between the driveway and sidewalk. Overall the installtion took me 5 hours by myself with the majority of the time dedicated to putting the wire in the ground. This was easy but time consuming. Training our dog was also very easy and we could let him loose in the yard after only three training sesions. After we installed our fence, many of our neighbors also were convinced that they could do it as well. By doing this yourself, you can realize savings of $200/hr compared to paying someone else to do it for you. We...
