Works as advertised, easy to program
We purchased this feeder for our small cat. Just received yesterday. It will dispense in 1/4 cup increments up to 2 cups, 3 times per day. It is VERY easy to program, unlike the horror stories in the reviews for the previous LeBistro models. We ran it through several test feedings and it completed this morning's feeding without a problem. The bowl/chute combo covers the hopper entrance very effectively to prevent a clever cat from accessing the food. A paddle wheel inside rotates to dispense the food, but the paddles are sectioned and made of soft flexible material to prevent jamming. So far so good!

Great product, with a few quirks.
After looking around for an auto feeder it seemed like they all had some issue, but this had mostly positive reviews so I figured I'd give it a try. I bought two so each of my cats could have one. Unfortunately one of them did not work upon arrival so I sent it back and had a new one sent within a week. A few things to point out based on other reviewers problems.1. Programming is quite easy if you just follow the instructions, it took me about 2 minutes to have it set up and ready to go.2. If you attach the container and lid on properly your cat will not be able to get into it.3. It will only take a day or two for your cat to realize if it sticks its arm up the food chute it can get a piece or two out but it's probably more of a hassle than your cat will want to deal with after a few tries.4. If you are using normal dry cat food (which is smaller than the 1/2" recommended size on the instructions) the portion control isn't very accurate...

This really works!
I love this auto feeder and love the idea behind it. The feeder itself is well made, simple, and absolutely no problem. My dogs were nearly a year old when I brought them from the pound. At first I was worried that they would pig out, however, I did want the freedom from daily feedings. Once they figured out that the food is there whenever they want it, they settled right down and eat without gorging. They never fight over food and seem to eat on their own schedule. I am free then to stay overnight in town without bothering a neighbor for feedings.

Bergan Aut-O-Dine
I bought this dog feeder to replace my old Bergan Aut-O-Dine feeder. I had my old one for about 7 years and it always stayed outside. This feeder holds a 20 lb bag of dog food and the only cute critter that can get at the food is my Lab.

very convenient
I love this purchase. Totally worth the money. I have two boxers and they were slurping their water ALL OVER the kitchen floor. It was disgusting. And as my 8 month old boxer was getting bigger, it looked like he was really struggling to eat out of his bowl on the floor. I was also getting sick of storing a 30 lb back of dog food in my pantry. I read a lot of reviews on this, and found it disappointing that everyone said the inside storage area was inconvenient to get to, but I guess it's all in how you use it. I decided to give it a try. It has almost completely eliminated the problem I was having with water all over the floor. My dogs are very comfortable eating out of it. And I have no problem storing dog food in it. The top opens up like a toy chest which most found to be inconvenient because you have to take the bowls out of the holes in order to open it. What I do is keep water in both bowls. Pet Feeder
Much nicer than bowls just sitting out on the floor. Nice color and easy to assemble. Had to exchange for the larger feeder for my 50+lb dogs. Small is very short and would be good for tiny dogs. Larger is great for bigger dogs.

Works great.
My daughter bought the Petmate LeBistro feeder at the pet store for her cat, and the cat defeated it the first day ... learned how to stick his paw up the chute and dispense as much food as he wanted. She was also concerned that the cat might be able to tip the whole feeder over or get the lid off which wasn't that securely attached. So the LeBistro went back to the pet store.I found this AF-100 electronic feeder at Amazon sold by TopSeller100 for the same price my daughter paid for the LeBistro. I ordered it for my cat to see if it would work any better than the LeBistro. My cat has been using for it a month now and it works perfectly. It is larger, heavier and more stable than the LeBistro. My 14 pound cat would not be able to tip it over. The barrel feeding mechanism closes off at the chute and it is not possible for the cat to dispense extra food. The lid has a positive locking latch that will not come off. Today I ordered another AF-100 feeder to give to my daughter...

Nice, but one flaw.
I am surprised that nobody has mentioned this. My situation is that I am away from home randomly for a few days at a time. So I wanted a feeder that I could turn on when I leave, and off when I am back. I prefer feeding the cats myself when I am home, more accurate portion sizing and also wet food at times. Either way, once you turn the unit off, it loses all information. Time, feeding times and portion size. I am by no means a newbie to technology and can program even a radio scanner from Radio Shack (that means something if you know what I am talking about), but this feeder is pretty tough to program. So this is my point - every time I turn this feeder back on, I have to reprogram the time, the feeding schedule and the portion size. I guess if I do this often enough, I will learn the programming steps, but it's a huge hassle. I realize that I can program it to run for only so many days, but I sometimes don't make it home on the day I hope to, but the next day etc...

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:49 MinsI thought I would post a video to show how the feeder works for folks who were curious. It has two motors: one to rotate the scoop that moves food from the main food bin to the food dish, and another to vibrate the food supply, probably to help food bits flow smoothly and prevent jamming. As previous reviewers have said, it's loud when it deposits food... that's due to the vibrating motor. You can set the amount of food that is released each time, by setting how many times the scoop deposits food. In this video, you can see that it was programmed to release two scoops, with each scoop being around 1/4 cup of food.Note that this video does not demonstrate the audio clip recording/playback while feeding. The manual says it plays back the sound clip three times at feeding time.Very cheap construction all around, but it works!

This Sucker's Huge!
I bought this for my persian cat when her old Le Bistro feeder just got too grungy to use any more (after nine years). I must have been asleep at the wheel when I ordered it (hey it looked just like the old one in the picture) just four times as big. These feeders work great for almost any shape dry pet food. This size holds about half a 17.5 pound bag of Science Diet adult cat food. Now Murphy has enought chow at any given time to weather the odd catagory five hurricane, or a nuclear attack.

Great for cats and small dogs!
We purchased this to make sure our pets had plenty of food readily available while we were away on vacation. Our house sitter enjoyed not having to worry about keeping up with feedings throughout the day. All she had to do was check the level and relax.The downside of the feeder is you can't control how much your pet eats and it's not so great with larger food. It tended to clog up with our dog food but be great for the cat food. Our dog had to paw at the food to get it to drop out for her.

Very Good for the Price
I own both the feeder and the waterer. The feeder was an excellent idea because cats "usually" don't over eat. It was great until I got a cat who thought it was meal time whenever she passes it. She gained ten pounds! We had to stop using it. We are still using the waterer. It's good to know that our two cats can have fresh water whenever they want it. I change the water about ever four to five days. You do need to have pretty good hand/eye coordination when you are putting the full jug on the base. It is like trying to replace the jug on a water cooler, but on a smaller scale.

Best Dog Feeder Ever
I purchased this feeder about ten years ago, and I lost track of it when I moved. I bought a new one, and it is the best feeder around if you vacation for an extended period of time. The top portion holds two weeks of food, and sits on top of the water well. The water well holds 5 gallons of water and stays cool, since the top portion insulates it and there is continuous water flowing in due to the hose attachment. The renter of my old house recently left, and I found my old feeder. It is none the worse for wear after all of these years, and now I have two.

All in one dog food and Water
WE LOVE IT !!! However, I give you a 4 star because, we bought the large size and we have a large dog, the water dish area is to small for large dogs. Our dog manages, but makes a big mess because the trough is to small, also you need a place to house the plug so it doesn't get lost. It is an awesome product though. Thanks so much

good product
I read many reviews for this product before ordering. My main concern was that my smallest dog would have trouble. As it turns out, he was the only one that would eat out of it. My bigger dogs would have nothing to do with it. And if you have an ant issue, as we do in the southwest, they love this product. There is no way to keep them out. It is difficult to fill the water as it is used as the base. It is basically a good product, but didn't work for me.
