After reading the reviews of this book and the similar by Karen Pryor, I purchased both so that I could compare them and possibly benefit from two different sources. However, after reading both manuals and having been clicker training my cat for several months now, I can say with absolute certainty that Cat Training in 10 Minutes is far superior in quality and content to Karen Pryor's book. 1. Comprehensiveness of Clicker Theory: 5/5 stars. The theory used in Cat Training in 10 Minutes is operant conditioning. Using a clicker followed by a reward, you can reinforce desired behavior in your cat. Verbal commands (come, sit) as well as specific hand signals are incorporated in this book. Buy this book!
I purchased this book and another entitled "Getting Started: Clicker Training for Cats". The latter is absolutely useless! It is filled with antedotes and very little to almost no instruction. What a waste. "10 mintues" is the only book you need to clicker train your feline. My very energetic kitten has responded almost instantly to clicker training. It gives her something to do and think about, as well as use all the excess energy! After three 10 minute sessions my kitten targets, comes, sits, and twirls, as well as taking treats from my hand politely. What more can I say? Buy this book!

cat training .... it works !
I found this book quick and easy to read and effective. I have already adopted several of the suggested tactics on our kitten (4 mos old) and now have a cat that comes when called by name, comes when you say come, and is in the process of being toilet trained. So far everything suggested has worked , and we are optimistic that the toilet training will work too! I have had a number of cats over the years, never before tried the training suggested in this book and I highly recommend this book.

A great resource!
I just got my first cat (she's 6 months old) and have been searching around desperately ever since for a good, solid reference book full of everything I need to know to keep my cat healthy and happy. A kind of "Our Bodies, Our Selves" for my pet, you could say. But most of the books I found were all pictures, no substance.I stumbled across this one when I found it on a sale table. I thought it was just going to be a handbook on cat psychology, but it turns out it's much, much more!This book has information on just about everything you would ever need to know about taking care of your kitty. It's got a chapter on every subject I had a question about, plus informational lists (like, of which houseplants are poisonous), very detailed and easy-to-follow instructions (like, on how to do CPR on your cat), and extremely innovative ideas and solutions to common problems (like, how to keep your cat off your kitchen counters).I heartily recommend this book to...

A Great Book for Cat Owners
There is so much misinformation about cats that it's a welcome treat to have a book that gives us insight into things that are important to them. Cats love security. They love a familiar setting. They like a routine, but they can become bored if we don't play with them regularly. The author has fine suggestions on effective play. She also has excellent thoughts on how cats try to communicate with us. It took me a long time to figure out what my cat was trying to tell me, but you can get it nicely from this book. The volume has useful information on cat health, but its great value is in helping you think like a cat. Every cat owner would be wise to have a copy.

Excellent Book for Owners of Cats of All Ages
I checked out this book at the library, and I am now buying it. Don't think that this is a book for someone who JUST bought a cat! I have owned a cat for 5 years and I still found all the information in this book helpful. Pam explains everything in clear, concise words, so you don't get caught of in the middle of the book thinking "What the heck is a cytoplamatic inherited gene?" I strongly urge you to buy this book whether you are about to buy your first kitten or if you have been a cat owner for 20 years.

Living a litter-free lifestyle
I got a CitiKitty kit last fall as a bit of a skeptic... now I brag about my toilet-trained cat to strangers in the grocery line. The kit is very straight-forward and simple to use. It sits on the rim of your toilet underneath the seat. You fill it with about a quarter-inch of litter and gradually punch out the holes in the middle so your cat will start going in the water and weaning off of litter. (You do have to get flushable litter to use with it.) I took things super slow with my cat and it was only a couple months before we had eliminated litter completely! She sits on the toilet seat and goes right in the water without any problems whatsoever, all I ever have to do is flush. Everyone compares her to the cat in Meet The Parents. I can't even imagine how I used to live with smelly messy litter in my apartment!

In Progress: So far so good.
I have been using CittiKitty for a week now and I will continue to update this review as I go through the process. All you have to do is read a few reviews and you should catch on to the fact that this product will not work on every cat. Some cats are stubborn, picky, stuck in their ways, or simply do not have the brain power to make the transition. So I will not be basing my rating on whether or not it works on my specific cat, but the actual product itself and how well it functions. I skipped some of the opening steps because my cat was already used to having its litter box in the restroom. I simply moved the litter box onto the toilet for one day and then switched to CittiKitty. I have to give fairly high marks for the product construction. It fit my toilet perfectly and is pretty stable. I started using the same litter I have always used, basic Fresh Step clumping litter. My 1 year old cat had no problem using it and never missed a beat. I recommend...

Okay, but a couple issues....
The product is fine, but the issue falls with the punching out of the rings. The instructions state to punch each out as your cat seems ready to move on to the next level, BUT if you went too fast and need to go back to the previous level, naturally you cannot replace the punchout! Also the package insert advises you may want to punch out a half-ring if your cat is slower to catch on. There are no perforations to do a half-ring. Anyway, since cats cannot talk, if you misjudge their rate of progress and punch out the plastic ring, you cannot go back. This product can serve as a cheaper alternative to the more expensive kitty toilet training rings of various sizes. Obviously with those, you are paying for more sturdiness and the ability to back up to the previous size/level ring if needed. So, how did my cat do? She is age 9, and was only partially successful. It may work best with a kitten. My cat would urinate on CitiKitty fine, but would not defecate. She held it in all...

Great book for training cats!
I bought this book to help me understand how to train my very active Bengal. He needed to learn some manners, and we both needed a "common language" so we could communicate with each other. This book was specifically recommended to me by a cat behavior specialist in Seattle. The book is an easy read, as it is not overly long or complicated. The techniques are simple to understand and are explained in clear terms. The clicker training techniques were originally used to train marine mammals, like dolphins! I have seen the amazing things trained dolphins can do when trained, so I thought surely my cats can benefit from this technique as well. The book suggests that you begin with a very simple little trick, which actually comes naturally to your cat. Once your cat figures out that by performing the trick he has trained YOU to give him a treat, the rest is a piece of cake! My cat enjoyed the training and it provided some nice bonding time for us. Neat little book

It's nice. I'm going to train my new kitten soon so this will be helpful because I don't want to teach her any hard tricks. It has some cool tricks. If you want to teach your cats simple tricks then this is a good book to choose.
