I bought this for my Ragdoll out of concern that I don't want him to get any urinary problems. I just finished setting up the drinking fountain and was surprised about how much larger it was than I had expected. It was a pleasant surprise though since I thought it would be smaller. It began to work perfectly after setting it all up and plugging it in. It also barely makes a noise so a plus on that. And pretty much after I turned it on, my cat (who was watching the whole time) decides to check it out. He first got a bit startled when his nose touched the water, but I guess after he realized that he could drink it, he started to get cozy and lapped it up. So within a few min of me turning it on and without any coaxing from me, he went right to drinking. So far, very happy with this product.Pros: - great size for large breed cats and maybe small-medium dogs - very quiet (those small, decorative water fountains are louder in my opinion) - easy to set up...

Love it!!!!!
I have 3 cats, 2 of which only wanted to drink from the bathroom faucet. I couldn't even brush my teeth without having them both jumping up to the sink! That problem is solved now thanks to this great water fountain! I read many reviews of many many different fountains and I especially liked that this one didn't have a bowl where everything would fall into it. The water just keeps recycling. It holds a lot, it's quiet, and thankfully all 3 cats took to it immediately. I would definitely recommend!

Nice water fountain
So far I am pleased with this Cat Water Fountain! It is pretty quiet for a fountain that is running constantly. Every once and awhile Ill hear it and think I left the water faucet on!! Otherwise my 2 cats spent almost an entire day checking it out, staring it down and then smacking the water out with their paw! They are now drinking out of it and seem to love it! It was easy to get it started...clean it out, snap it back together ad plug it in...oh and add the water!

I have two cats and I definteley spoil them rotten! When I first decided to get a water fontain for my cats I chose the Petmate Freshflow over the Drinkwell because the Drinkwell was more expensive and I was completely against the idea of listening to running water all day. Unlike most customers I've heard from the Petmate worked farily well as a water BOWL. It was easy to clean and my pump never stopped working as I've read many others did. However, the water running down the little ramp really didn't satisfy my cats. They did drink from it, but they would still jump at any chance to drink running water out of a faucet which is the whole reason I started thinking about getting them one in the first place. About a ear and a half later I started thinking about getting them a new one and possibly going with the more expensive Drinkwell this time. Every cat owner knows their pet(s) must drink plenty of water for good health. Fresh water is as necessary to your cat's well being as good, nutritious cat food. My two certainly drink lots of water - especially in hot weather. However, stagnate water in bowls loses its freshness fast. It also accumulates cat hairs, dust and debris - not very appetizing. Good, but could easily be better
My aging cat, like many others, needs to be encouraged to drink as much as possible. I read lots of reviews for cat fountains, and decided on this one (there are basically two other options that I know about.) I have a pergo floor that isn't impervious to water, so I varnished a thin 2'x2' piece of plywood to set the fountain on, to catch any random splashes. Maisie wasn't sure about the thing at first, though maybe the smell of the varnish was putting her off. After a few days she has taken to it fine. I don't know if she LOVEs it, as other owners have claimed, but she does use it, which is all I could reasonably expect. Good: - It is quiet. The motor is virtually inaudible. I don't know why some other people complain about the humming or buzzing noise. I don't hear a thing, and mine is sitting on a hard floor (on top of a sheet of 1/16" plywood.) It can make a trickling watery sound at the high setting, but apparently some people...

Not noisy, but clogs easily
Some of the negative reviews indicate that the Drinkwell is noisy. The truth is, it's only noisy if it doesn't have enough water or if the intake valve is clogged (which so far hasn't caused the pump to burn out for me). There's a slight hum from the pump when it's working correctly, but it will be much quieter than the other appliances in your kitchen. Cat hair and cat food can both clog the intake. So to keep it in top condition, check the water level once every day or two (or get the add-on reservoir), place the Drinkwell several paces away from the food dish (so your cats aren't tempted to moisten their food with it), and break down and clean the Drinkwell regularly, perhaps once a month when you change the filter cartridge.

Excellent small animal fountain
I ordered this fountain from KV Vet Supplies through Amazon and received it less than a week later. Unfortunately, the piece that holds the pump in place had broken off during shipping. I called KV Vet on Saturday, Oct. 17, and received the replacement on Wednesday, Oct. 21. I have to say that the customer service at KV Vet is outstanding! Now, about the fountain itself - What I really like about it is that it is a three tiered water container. The area where the water is pumped up serves as the first bowl. It then flows over to the small bowl a little bit lower than that and finally ends up flowing into the lowest bowl (which is also the largest). So if debris or fur gets into the water, it settles in the lowest bowl and there are still two areas with clean, flowing water. This fountain is also very quiet, but has a good flow of water. It's replacing a Petmate fountain that is still in working condition but has a lower flow rate and only one very shallow...

Quiet and Cat Approved Design
Our new Cat Mate Pet Fountain is replacing an old Petmate fountain. We, and our cats, prefer the Cat Mate because of the following reasons: - Quiet design. The Petmate was very noisy. Both fountains actually have the same motor, but the Cat Mate fountain has a special clamp which prevents the motor from vibrating and therefore creating noise. The old Petmate's motor relied on suction cups which allowed the motor to vibrate against the frame of the fountain. The new Cat Mate fountain is very quiet. - 3 pools of water with 2 waterfalls. This design allows for the cats to drink from two elevated pools of moving water, or two waterfalls, or the larger pool of still water. This also allows our cats to drink from the same fountain at the same time. They also seem to prefer the water falls over the Petmate's water ramp. The design also has a faster water flow rate compared to the Petmate (the cats seem to prefer this too). - Easier to clean...

Cat Mate Pet Watering Fountain
Excellent product. I have used several other brands of pet fountains for my cats and this style is the best. First, it is very quiet and does not have the usual splashing sound. However, it does efficiently airate the water with 2 waterfalls. There are 3 pools of water from still water to a flowing stream and the cat can select which from which to drink. The water is filtered and a very strong pump circulates the stream. This unit is very simple to clean. The entire top pops off to allow for a good scrubbing and to change the filter. I clean it about once a week; the water is still clean, but the walls get a slight slippery feel. Other water pumps seems to leave a film of household dust on the water surface, but this unit always has a clean surface. My cat adapted to it easily. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, quiet, and easy to clean fountain
This is the first time I've bought a fountain for my cat, and I've done quite a bit of research on them. Though there isnt much information about this fountain online compared to the drinkwell and petmate fountains, I went for this one after seeing what the insides of the other fountains looked like. I wanted to write this review in amazon so others can get a bit more information so they can make an informed choice. The main advantages that this fountain has over others are: 1. It's CERAMIC. No scratches in the plastic leading to bacteria. No allergies to the plastic, which some cats get. 2. QUIET PUMP. The pump is absolutely silent. Stylish AND practical
I bought two of these fountains after one of my cats developed a painful UTI. I wanted to encourage the cats to drink more water to avoid those kinds of health problems, and they both started drinking from it almost immediately. My two small dogs took a bit longer to get used to it but they still prefer to drink out of their regular water bowls. I don't mind though because the fountains are primarily for the cats. These ceramic fountains are so much better than the plastic water fountains, both aesthetically (no ugly logos or institutional colours) and from a health standpoint. Plastic will harbour all sorts of bacteria but ceramic won't. It's a very simple, stylish design and is so easy to clean unlike some of the plastic fountains. This is a winner!
I purchased this fountain for my cat, Willie, who is going to be 20 years old this month. He is unbelievably healthy for his age but does have CRF. Because he should drink as much water as he can and loves it from the faucet, I thought this would be the perfect solution. Well . . . it still could be. It's been operational for 10 days and I've seen him actually enjoy a refreshing drink from it twice. Since I'm not watching him every minute, a few kitty licks could go unnoticed. It took some time for him to figure out that the object on the floor was for him, that it was a source of water, and that there is more than one way to capture his drink. He seems to prefer the water at the source where it bubbles up or as it runs down the little ramp toward the bowl. The fountain runs very quietly. Willie does not hear well anymore but if he did, I don't think the pump noise would concern him. There is one suggestion I do have, however, when you're preparing...

she's finally drinking water! super easy to keep clean.
I was getting really worried about my cat, Zoe, as her water bowl did not appear to be getting any action. Ad this to the fact that Zoe would literally LEAP the moment any faucet would turn on, I was very concerned about her being at risk for a urinary infection. It's not at all sensible to keep the taps running all day for her, so this was a fantastic buy! It's about the same cost as all the other kitty fountains out there, but I feel it is hands down the prettiest out there. I was really attracted to the black ceramic fountain, and probably would have gotten that one if it wasn't back ordered. That said, the steel fountain looks really slick on my bamboo floors. Good fountain, give it a try
I had ordered the ceramic fountain, but got the stainless instead as the ceramic one was back ordered. While not as pretty, it is more practical, as it will not break if knocked around. The parts go together easily, and the cats took to it quickly. Some drink the flowing water, and somedrink in the "quiet " part of the bowl. It is not as much of a fountain as some of the other styles (the water runs down a trough into bowl) but the cats don't seem to want to play in it quite as much. One star taken off because while it hold 50 some odd ounces, if it gets down a third the pump will not move water, so it needs to be refilled more frequently than I had expected. It is easy to clean, and that is a big bonus. The filter needs to be replaced once a month (at least at my house, where the well water has a lot of sediment) and that might get pricy. All and all I am pleased. I do not use it for my dogs though, as I would need to refill constantly. A good choice for people who want to...
