Works great.
My daughter bought the Petmate LeBistro feeder at the pet store for her cat, and the cat defeated it the first day ... learned how to stick his paw up the chute and dispense as much food as he wanted. She was also concerned that the cat might be able to tip the whole feeder over or get the lid off which wasn't that securely attached. So the LeBistro went back to the pet store. I found this AF-100 electronic feeder at Amazon sold by TopSeller100 for the same price my daughter paid for the LeBistro. I ordered it for my cat to see if it would work any better than the LeBistro. My cat has been using for it a month now and it works perfectly. It is larger, heavier and more stable than the LeBistro. My 14 pound cat would not be able to tip it over. The barrel feeding mechanism closes off at the chute and it is not possible for the cat to dispense extra food. The lid has a positive locking latch that will not come off. Today I ordered another AF-100 feeder to give to my daughter...

cheap construction, tricky to program, gets the job done
Customer Video Review Length:: 1:49 MinsI thought I would post a video to show how the feeder works for folks who were curious. It has two motors: one to rotate the scoop that moves food from the main food bin to the food dish, and another to vibrate the food supply, probably to help food bits flow smoothly and prevent jamming. As previous reviewers have said, it's loud when it deposits food... that's due to the vibrating motor. You can set the amount of food that is released each time, by setting how many times the scoop deposits food. In this video, you can see that it was programmed to release two scoops, with each scoop being around 1/4 cup of food. Note that this video does not demonstrate the audio clip recording/playback while feeding. The manual says it plays back the sound clip three times at feeding time. Very cheap construction all around, but it works!

Nice, but one flaw.
I am surprised that nobody has mentioned this. My situation is that I am away from home randomly for a few days at a time. So I wanted a feeder that I could turn on when I leave, and off when I am back. I prefer feeding the cats myself when I am home, more accurate portion sizing and also wet food at times. Either way, once you turn the unit off, it loses all information. Time, feeding times and portion size. I am by no means a newbie to technology and can program even a radio scanner from Radio Shack (that means something if you know what I am talking about), but this feeder is pretty tough to program. So this is my point - every time I turn this feeder back on, I have to reprogram the time, the feeding schedule and the portion size. I guess if I do this often enough, I will learn the programming steps, but it's a huge hassle. I realize that I can program it to run for only so many days, but I sometimes don't make it home on the day I hope to, but the next day etc...

Works as advertised, easy to program
We purchased this feeder for our small cat. Just received yesterday. It will dispense in 1/4 cup increments up to 2 cups, 3 times per day. It is VERY easy to program, unlike the horror stories in the reviews for the previous LeBistro models. We ran it through several test feedings and it completed this morning's feeding without a problem. The bowl/chute combo covers the hopper entrance very effectively to prevent a clever cat from accessing the food. A paddle wheel inside rotates to dispense the food, but the paddles are sectioned and made of soft flexible material to prevent jamming. So far so good!

Great product, with a few quirks.
After looking around for an auto feeder it seemed like they all had some issue, but this had mostly positive reviews so I figured I'd give it a try. I bought two so each of my cats could have one. Unfortunately one of them did not work upon arrival so I sent it back and had a new one sent within a week. A few things to point out based on other reviewers problems. 1. Programming is quite easy if you just follow the instructions, it took me about 2 minutes to have it set up and ready to go. 2. If you attach the container and lid on properly your cat will not be able to get into it. 3. It will only take a day or two for your cat to realize if it sticks its arm up the food chute it can get a piece or two out but it's probably more of a hassle than your cat will want to deal with after a few tries. 4. If you are using normal dry cat food (which is smaller than the 1/2" recommended size on the instructions) the portion control isn't...

Good feeder
I gave this item 5 stars because it does exactly what it is suppose to do. I did use it when we were away and for everyday use. If you do have food that is not round then it will not roll down automatically, but your cat will not starve as they can reach the opening and get the food that way and while your cat does that the food will come down! I am not using it at the moment as it does attract ants which got in the food. So if you do have an ant problem and you are going away for a while then you need to put ant traps near the feeder!

Works well and holds a lot.
Unlike other feeders, the opening is large enough to keep food from getting stuck and not coming down. Holds enough food to last for 2 weeks with 3 cats, although we had back up bowls just in case.

Great for Slowing Down A Scarfer
Customer Video Review Length:: 0:33 MinsMy cat loves to eat. He will eat until he throws up if given the chance. He scarfs his meals and then runs over to eat my other cat's food. It has been annoying having to wait around for cat #2 to finish eating, or having to lock them in separate rooms for meals. That's where the food ball came in. My cat took to it in seconds. He knew his food was in there rattling around and it clicked for him immediately. This video is actually his first time using it, and he successfully ate the whole meal this way. With cat #2 safely eating his dinner from his bowl and cat #1 preoccupied with his new food ball, they finished at the same time and no food was stolen! A brilliant solution to kitty behavior problems
SlimCat feeder ball. Recommended by my vet for my adult cat's continued behavior problems. I could not find one in stores ANYWHERE so i had to order it online. seems to be a new product. HOW TO USE: Take off the top of the ball, pour in the desired amount of dry food (i think it holds 3/4 cup or maybe a cup) The food comes out of 3 holes when the pet pushes the ball around. The hole size is adjustable so you can easily change it depending on food size and how easily you want it to fall out of the ball. I started my cat with bigger holes so more food would come out as he got used to it (as recommended by the instructions) then i made the holes smaller so it would take longer for him to eat. I took away his food dish so he wouldn't get confused. It only took a couple days for him to stop going to his food dish area. he got the idea of the ball right away. MY OPINION: I have a bad-behavior kitty who cries constantly for food...

One of the few food toys that you can adjust how much comes out
While I don't have cats, I have two shetland sheepdogs, one 22 lbs, the other 30 lbs. My 30 lbs girl was getting far too good at removing kibbles from her Premier Waggle and her large Tricky Treat Ball. Neither of these toys were adjustable in how much comes out, unless you want to get larger kibble and I didn't want to change kibbles. I stumbled across this item and ordered one because I like the idea that it's adjustable. There are two types of holes the food can come out of: a set of 3 smaller round holes, and another set of 3 larger holes. You adjust which holes you want by unlocking a little mechanism and twisting half of the ball so that it's where ever you want it. I have it set on the larger holes but the large holes are too big for my kibble, so I've twisted it to where only part of the larger holes are revealed. I'm also considering covering one of the 3 holes with tape on the inside so kibble can only come out of 2 holes. The dogs love these,...

Excellent Product
This feeder is exactly what I expected. High quality, easy to use, and reliable. I previously purchased the two - sided feeder by Petsafe and was very happy. It still works great, but I needed to go away for 4 days and it just didn't have enough slots. It took my cat about a week to get used to the whirring noise that the feeder makes when it rotates the dish; He wouldn't go near it if I didn't stand next to him while he ate. I made it a positive experience for him by putting a small meal in each of the slots (even just a few kibbles) and for a week he got a food reward everytime the machine made the whirring noise. Now he runs to the food dish everytime it whirrs because he knows it means food. I definitely would recommend this product to a client (I am a veterinarian). My only advice is to make sure that you give a few weeks for your pet to adapt to the whirring noise before you leave them alone with the food dish. The Cat Sitter's Best Friend
I got this when I went on vacation. My cat has to eat small portions or it comes back up, and of course my cat sitter can't stop by 5 times a day. Enter the PF5-11. It delivers equal portions 5 times a day (or 1 meal every day for 5 days, or 2 meals every day for 2 and a half days, or whatever). So the sitter came by once or twice a day and just refilled the hoppers. Now I use it all the time. Phoebe Cat now anticipates the feeding times and has stopped bugging me to feed her. It's pretty easy to program, very accurate, and seems to run a long time on the D cells. The motor only really runs for 5 seconds a day. Highly recommended.
