Good quality, but not big enough for medium to large cat
This carrier looks and feels sturdy and well made. The fleece pad for the floor is soft and cozy looking. The strap is quite comfortable too. I have a medium to large size cat, approximately 11 pounds, and found this carrier much smaller in size than I expected and had to return it. If you have a small dog or small cat, this would be a very nice carrier. I'd suggest measuring your pet's height and length to make sure they'd fit comfortably into it's dimensions before you get this carrier.

Our cat carrier of choice
In an emergency, you could bundle kitty into a pillow case to take him to the vet's. I've never tried this, but my friend who volunteers for the Humane Society says it does work. However, you are much better off with a pet carrier, and this one is a good size for all but the largest of cats (I go up one size for my 30 lb. Maine Coon). Another good feature of this particular carrier, is that you can take it apart at the vet's if your cat refuses to come out. You might be surprised at how difficult it is to budge a cat who has all four feet braced against the inside of the carrier. I recommend getting one Kennel Cab per pet just in case you have an emergency, such as a pending hurricane or fire, and have to move all of your animals at once. This model is easy to stack, and easy to clean.

Petmate makes an excellent pet carrier for multiple uses for your furry little loved ones! This size is perfect for cats and small dogs that weigh up to roughly 16 pounds, and other pets you may have. This four sides of the carrier have plenty of ventilation; and it's easy to carry and easy to assemble/take apart. In case your pet is skittish about getting out of the carrier when they sense they're at the vet, another reviewer writes that it comes in very handy to have the carrier able to be opened from sides so that the top comes off. That reviewer sure is right! Some pets are extremely reluctant to come out of their kennel carriers. I also love the fact that you can attach the top handle of the carrier to a car safety belt. Excellent! The plastic is quite strong; and when they say its high impact they sure are right! Nice size crate for Yorkie, easy to assemble.
Very nice crate, easy to assemble. Just the right size for my Yorkie that is 10" tall and 9" long (weight 6 lbs.). He has room to stretch out and turn around in comfort. Light weight, very roomy. I highly suggest a fleece pet bed liner, makes it warm and comfy.

Kitty Carrier
My cat, Amelia, and I travel from New Hampshire to Florida and back every year. Amelia doesn't like being in the car, and I have always left her loose while driving. This created a major inconvenience because, no matter who was driving, she wanted to be on the driver. So the passenger couldn't relax, as it was their responsibility to keep Amelia off the driver. When my daughter told me that she bought a new carrier for her cat, and Phoebe actually curls up in it when it's on the floor in the living room, I went online to check it out. It's not cloth, so she can't try to claw her way out of it (that's why Amelia and Phoebe both needed new carriers). It has bars on both sides and on the rounded back, so it's more open. The molded body of the carrier is firm, so it feels stable even when the car is moving. I have never seen Amelia curl up in it at home. Cute but challenging
When other reviews I've read said that this product was difficult to assemble they certainly weren't exaggerating. Just got it today in preparation for my new pet rabbit. Great size and cute design. Fully functional pet carrier, but it turned into a group activity trying to put this thing together. The wire parts refuse to stay in place as you're trying to assemble the carrier, so you'll probably need a second pair of hands just to keep the three in place while you're trying to piece this thing together. A few of the place parts didn't have the holes completely done so had to widen them to their proper size. Took about half an hour to completely assemble with 3 people. Perfectly functional and great visually, but challenge to assemble.

Great for the skittish cat
As one reviewer said, this is tough to put together. It looks easy, but you need 4 hands to get the knobs into the slots and closed right. But after that... This carrier is great. We haven't used it for taking a pet on a plane, but we adopted a stray cat and her 4 kittens, and this is perfect for getting a skittish adult cat to the vet's with a minimum of blood loss (ours). The top opens up as well as the front. The front door is nice and large enough to push a struggling adult cat inside, but the top is the greatest. We had to wrap Emme (the ex-stray) in a towel AND a sheet just to catch her, and the open top made it easy to get her inside and remove the sheet without letting her out. We bought this at PetSmart for $35, however I haven't seen one there since. $70+ is a little much for this, however if it goes down to about $50, I'll get another one. This seems kind of flimsy when you put it together, but it's sturdy when it's already...

My cat loved Pet Taxi...
I recently purchased the Pet Taxi to transport a large 9 pound cat on Northwest Airlines. It fit fine under the seat on NWA. My cat loved the Pet Taxi so much that he used it to sleep in. The fabric is sturdy enough that my cat could not scratch and break it. There is plenty of mesh so that my cat could see out, yet the back piece was solid so he could turn that way, if he was feeling shy. The bottom had a fleece covered sturdy pad that does not bend. It was easy to carry with the shoulder stap and handles. For the price, this was a good buy and I recommend it.

Did the job
This carrier was great - successfully transported the family's 15 lb cat on two airplanes for a total of over 1000 miles. It was a little small, but the cat was comfortable for the majority of the trip, especially once the "Rescue Remedy" solution kicked in. [Search for this if you're traveling with your pet - it really works!] My only caution is that if your pet has front claws, they may be able to rip the mesh to shreds and escape, but this was not a problem for my de-clawed cat. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend this to others.

Love it! Happy Kitty!
This is the best cat carrier I've ever owned. It came fully assembled and ready to go. I've use it two times since I bought it and my full grown cat fits comfortably with room to spare and travels very happy. In previous carriers she would cry the entire two hours home but now that I have this new carrier she is a lot more happy because all of the sides are open for her to look out making her feel comfortable and less like she's in a cage. Plus, the name stickers the give you are just too cute.

Already Assembled!
I had already purchased the smaller for my yorkie puppy, but now that she is grown, she needed a little more space. The 23-inch crate arrived today FULLY ASSEMBLED, as did the 19-inch that I bought 4 months ago. I guess there were too many complaints about difficult assembly! Unlike other carriers, the back is curved out giving a more open feel. I like that feature because it makes it easy for my dog to see out (she is very nosy), yet it is still covered enough to feel den-like. Plus it just look cuter than other crates! The door opens and closes easily (my 5-year old can operate it) and it seems sturdy to me. It also comes with letter stickers to personalize with your pet's name. I am very happy with this purchase!

Love it!
I can't believe all the negative reviews! I love this carrier. I had NO trouble putting it together. If you put the sides in backwards, they don't really fit, but if you turn them around the whole thing goes together very quickly and easily! I have taken it apart to clean it and put it back together several times with no difficulty. I've had this crate for about a year and half and I still love it. I have a chihuahua who weighs about 4 pounds and he fits with room to spare. He loves to chew and has chewed on the door a little, but he would probably be able to do that with any crate. I really love the open sides and it looks so much nicer than other crates. I would definitely buy again and will likely do so in about a year when I replace my current one.

• The most common cat carrier is either a plastic box or a wicker basket with a single wire door on the front. Cats hate carriers, cars, and vets and that’s just the way it is. But it doesn’t have to be that way. • Fabric carriers may seem nice and comfortable to you, but their flexibility and tendency to collapse actually makes for a very insecure and likely frightening journey for your cat. Present cat, who has now vomited, urinated and defecated in the carrier, to the vet. There are some really ridiculous cat carriers out there. Crawl under bed and grab cat by scruff and pull, dragging both cat and half of your carpet out from under the bed. • By far the easiest carriers to use are the ones that have both a side door AND a top door. Because it’s not the carrier itself, it’s the fact that it’s new and different and scary, and if they’ve been in it before, they know the whole process ahead of them is even more different and scary. • Instead of keeping the carrier in a closet or garage, keep it in the living room. Choose the right carrier. So why do they hate their carrier so much. Most vets don’t keep a screwdriver in their consult room, so please don’t bring your cat in something that requires a degree in engineering to take apart. If you think about it, cats don’t actually hate boxes or baskets, they lie in them all the time at home.

I placed a few cotton balls soaked in lavender oil in the bottom of the carrier to relax my cat and it worked like a charm. You just need to make sure your kitty can stand up and turn around in the carrier or you may not be allowed onboard. You also need to make sure the carrier is leakproof. I used a much less expensive Bergan airline approved pet carrier and it worked just fine…though they may run a little small for your Ragdoll. I actually bought some adult human incontinence pads at Walmart and placed one in the bottom of the carrier to absorb any accidents.

The sight of the cat carrier stresses out a lot of cats because often the only time your carrier comes out is for your trip to the vet. Demystify the carrier by working with your cat using treats, toys or catnip or even serving an occasional meal in the carrier. Make sure to buckle the carrier in. Q. Is it possible to make the carrier more inviting for the trip. Use the same soft towel or bedding in the carrier as you do at home so your cat will be used to the scent. Your kitty fights going into the cat carrier, howls all the way to the vet and hides or hisses in the exam room. If there is a closet or corner of a room that your cat likes for a hiding place, try leaving the carrier in that spot all the time with the door off. Once your cat is more relaxed in the carrier, continue to reward him or her with treats. The vertigo that you would feel being jostled about on an amusement ride is very similar to what your cat is experiencing if the carrier is swinging from your side. If your cat tends to urinate when riding in a carrier, try using a puppy-training pad on top of the bedding so you can discard it if soiled. Ease your cat into the carrier.
