The Sound Of Silence
The last thing you want when sitting back and relaxing in front of your peaceful aquarium is the buzz or hummm of an air filter. We had and old (4 years) AQT 1000 which we had to unplug at night because of its peculiar humming.So I asked the guy at the fish store which of the many air pumps is the quietest. "The Tetra Whisper Air Pump" he picked one up off the shelf and casually tossed it over my way.Wow not much of and introduction. So I bought a different unit, well because I know better don't I? Sure. Two days later I retuned that one because it was competing with the refrigerator in the hum contest. And it was winning.Sure enough this 'Whisper" is a very quiet unit. Peaceful and unobtrusive.We have a 35 gal / 24" deep tank and the #10 gal Air Pump provides great bubble power.I would recommend trying the lower powered ones for your tank and if need be working up to a higher stength if necessary. Its a GREAT powerful buy!!!
This pump works quite well! I have a beta fish and my previous pump wasn't working so my "Shark" :) wasn't as playful as he usually was in my 5 gallon tank. As soon as I hooked this pump up though, he became himself again. My old pump was no where nearly as powerful and there are dozens more bubbles than that old heap could have ever produced. It DOESN'T come with the tubbing, however. So you have to purchase that seperately. It is a very quiet pump and I'm glad I purchased it!PS. no one ever comments on Amazon Prime, but this is my favorite online purchasing site because whenever I order something I get it at the latest two days later. GREAT work Amazon!!! You have a customer for life - as my thousands of dollars already spent with you show :)!!!

Great Whisper Air Pump for 10 gallon Aquarium
Hi. I just received my Whisper 10 Air Pump yesterday, with my Tetra 10 Deluxe kit. They work just fine. I use the air pump to connect it with my wall bubble wand (or airstone) that I bought at pet store. The pump is powerful and silent, and doesnt get any hot even though been used for days. Really useful in creating small bubbles in your aquarium.

Quiet Air Pump!
This Aquarium Air Pump is so Quiet I have my 29 gallon aquarium in my big master bedroom. I can only hear the bubbles from the air-stone! I will use Whisper Air Pumps for both of my aquariums, because they are built really good and are Super Quiet! I recommend these aquarium air pump for all Aquarium Owners!

Good But...
For the money this is a good little air pump. Although I do have to say that after around the 4 month mark like everyone else giving a review here it got very noisy.Don't worry there is a fix! Unscrew the 4 Philips head screws under the unit and separate the bottom and the top. You will find a stack of "L" shaped magnets. Move the stack a bit to the right and tighten the nut that holds the "L" shaped magnets in place. Put it back together and ta-da no more noise! The Problem is that the little arm that holds the square shaped magnet is hitting the "L" shaped magnets with every pump. All you have to do is give it some space so it doesn't hit the other stack of magnets. The nut might not have be tight enough when they built it or it rattled loose during normal use allowing the stack of magnets to...

Excellent pumps, very quiet, best value
Compared to a couple of models of Tetra air pumps I have, the Fusion air pumps are BY FAR the best value. Near-silent operation, two air nipples to attach your airstones or whatever to, very long-lived compared to similar pumps truly the best value. And a BARGAIN too. I have a ten and a forty gallon tank and have my older Tetra air pumps offline. Fusion air pumps are so much better that there's really no comparing the two. Vastly superior design, excellent appearance, 100% satisfied.

Surprisingly Quiet. Good Quality & Parts.
Let's get something clear first, no air pump runs 100% quiet, no matter what the makers say. Now the review :After all the numerous mixed reviews, I decided to take a chance and get this air pump anyway, and I'm glad I did.This pump, as the title says, is surprisingly quiet, the sound of the bubbles and the waves in my tank are actually louder than this pump, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that. I have an old, square shape, Aquaculture pump that was bugging me it was so loud. The Tetra Whisper pump emits a very, almost unnoticed hum. The pump has 2 outakes and comes included with the following:The pump of course, instructions , 1T-adapter; 2 knobs/valves that help regulate the amount of bubbles you feed into the aquarium by increasing/decreasing air flow. it's good, here's a tip though....
...if you only use one of the two outputs(like I do), put a piece of hose onto the unused outlet - it will muffle the noise it makes[I don't know why they don't tell you this in the pump instructions!]. If both outlets have hoses on them, whether they are in the water or not, this will be a quiet air pump. Having two outputs is great, you could easily feed two 30 gal tanks with this, and it seems like this could handle a 100 gal tank.Also!: Make sure to position your bubbles emitting from your stone/bubblewall NOT near(under) your filter intake. The intake will take in the air bubbles and cause significant noise as it spits them out up near the filter[gheez, why don't they tell you this in the pump instructions!]. With a quiet pump and keeping your air bubbles away from the filter intake, you should have a system quiet enough to sleep next to. Therefore I don't recommend using a full length back bubble wall with a top filter, as the filter will take in the bubbles and...

Mini pump 404
This pump is excellent for hanging waterfalls. It is quiet and doesn't pump so much volumn that your waterfall sounds like a river instead of a stream. If you need to pump water a long distance than you should move up to the larger mini jet pump. This pump is very quiet. If you hear vibration noise it is because of parts of the waterfall vibrating. This is a good work horse, my first one lasted non stop for over 2 years.

Works as advertised but will fail if run without water
I use this pu,p in a desk fountain and it works well but if it runs without water going through it then the impeller shaft breaks and you have to get a new one, which costs about the same as a new pump (so I just bought a new pump). Plus the speed control does not slide easily. But the pump is cheap and small and moves the water well so it is worth the price

Great little pump...wish it came with suction cups, though
I bought this pump because I needed something for my aquarium that doesn't move too much water. It pumps water through my UV sterilizer, and too much flow would render it ineffective. It's amazing how difficult it is to find a good, small pump.Anyway this one works great. The flow is adjustable and the range from least to most water pumped is pretty wide. I have it turned pretty much all the way down.Yes, it's silent and inconspicuous in my aquarium. It sucks water in through a grating and connects to 1/2 inch tubing, which seems a bit large to me (the tubing is a little more obtrusive) for a pump of this size. Again, I have it turned down. I wish they made an even smaller one.It was inexpensive and shipped to me quickly, so no complaints there.One thing rubbed me a bit wrong: the included instructions indicate that it comes with some suction cups that hold it in place, but in fact it does not. I actually would have appreciated...

Good performance for the money
I have bought three of these over the past year and have been impressed by all of them. Unless you plan to spend $200-$400 a piece for the eco-tec units, this is a darn good value. They may not have all the bells and whistles like other models, but they are dead quiet, and when I say dead quiet, I mean that with everything else off in my reef tank, I have to put my ear four inches from the water to hear it running. It also provides a broad current, which is desirable, as opposed to a concentrated jet. Is it the absolute best model on the market? No. Is it the best value? In my opinion, yes it is. For anyone on a budget, these are the way to go. Oh, and when you put it on the tank, it stays put! Most models I have seen have had a tendency to "walk" down the glass over time (these do not). - 125 Gallon glass mixed reef tank.

Dont waste money on a powerhead for circulation...get this!
Wow. Ive had this for 2 days and come away super impressed. Casts a wide spread that works perfectly in my 55 gallon saltwater tank. A powerhead will seem puny compared to this if you're using it for water movement. At the same time, because of the wide spread, it's not overly powerful in any way. Build quality seems super sturdy and it's super quiet as well.

Nice but not perfect.
PROs:- more powerful than powerheads that blow a jetstream- agitates water surface yet doesn't blow my sugar fine sized aragonite sand around (I hate getting sand dunes where eventually I'd see the glass/acrylic bottom of my tank).- magnet holder- medium length cord- low 4.5 wattsCONs:- Starts in reverse then I'd unplug it and plug it back in then it works.- kind of big compared to Ecotech Vortech MP10 and Aqueon powerheads- doesn't blow as powerful or as wide as my SEIO m820 powerhead- isn't as adjustable at right-angles like the SEIO m820- I bought 2. The check valve – this valve prevents water from going back in the air pump if you opt to put it beneath the level of water in your aquarium especially if there is a power cut or each time the pump stops working. The air pump system is made of the following accessories: regulator or clamp, T-piece, air pumping machine, rubber tubing and diffusers. With aquarium pumps the fish within the aquarium is able to get the air they need to live. Do not put the pump into the aquarium or down in the water and purchase a larger model that what you need for your aquarium. Gang valve – this is usually used when you have only one application in one air pump, therefore, is not used as a substitute within the check valve if the device is put beneath water level. Given that several persons think the aquarium air pumps are too loud, a solution to the problem that was helpful to other people is to put the machine on top of a sponge while they are functioning. Take the air pump, tubing, gang valve or check valve out of the box. The pump forces the air through a special tube or other attachment so as to improve the amount of oxygen or air that is in the water. Regardless of the type of power you’re using you should placed the pump inside of the aquarium.

When installing external pumps is important to ensure that the pump is near the tank and the pipe that connects the two is tightly fitted. Additionally, an extra pump may be required to act as a backup whenever the main pump fails. For instance, freshwater fish requires right Aquarium Pumps to ensure continuous supply of fresh water. For instance, most of Aquarium Air Pumps require a source of power for them to function well. It is also important to remember that pumps with a lower turnover should only be used in aquariums with few fish. Large aquarium may require more than one pump. Large pumps that may require may occupy big space in the aquarium should be avoided. The number of pumps required depends on the size of aquarium. Pumps with high turnovers are preferable since they provide constant supply of air in the aquarium. It is important to note that external pumps work best with small aquariums. The pumps ensure that there is even distribution of air in the aquarium.

A bit of research and some quality aquarium supplies will help you maximise your experience as a fish keeper. You will probably want to pick up a book, too, with suggestions that can help you maximise your skills to have a healthy and vibrant aquarium.
