FINALLY -- a mini heater that actually WORKS!
My betta lives in a 1.5-gallon tank, which is a difficult size for which to find a reliable heater. I've been trying for the past eight months or so to find one that (a) would keep the water warm enough for the fish but (b) wouldn't boil the fish alive. In my quest, I've tried two Marineland heaters. Neither one worked the way it was supposed to, and yes -- I DID follow the instructions, to the letter. These are the ones I tried:1. The Marineland Shatterproof 10-Watt Mini Heater (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00176DUEY/ref=oss_product) for tanks up to 3 gallons. This one barely kept the water at 74 degrees (even though it's supposedly factory preset for 78) and it only worked for a couple weeks. It quit, and I was back to wrapping a human's heating pad around the tank while I searched for a replacement.2. The Shatterproof Mini Heater 10watt...

Does the trick
It was hard to find a heater small enough for my daughter's little 1 1/2 gallon tank that had an adjustable thermostat. We've had this one for a few weeks now and it seems to work perfectly.

Good heater: holds a nice steady temperature, but runs a bit low
I picked up this heater for our 10-gallon tank, and after several days of adjusting it and watching our tank thermometer, I'm happy with it. It attaches easily, the indicator light is great, and fully submerging it hasn't caused any problems. The only downside is that it consistently runs 2-3 degrees low: I have it set to 80, and it keeps the tank at 77-78. That wasn't hard to figure out, though, and it does hold the water at a steady temperature.Given the horror stories I've read about other heaters, I'll take one that runs low and steady over one with serious problems any day.Update: A month later, it's still rock solid, responsive to changes in temperature (like when I add water during a water change), and performing well.

Great heater!
This heater has no problem keeping a 10 gallon tank up to temp. The temp reading on the front is easy to see with it's orange coloring. The included mounting clip is sturdy with large suction cups that easily keep the heater in place. It's not noted in the item info but this heater operates from 68 to 93 degrees. Good for tanks that need a higher temp for some tropical fish.

Works Great!
This heater is just what I was looking for. I have it in a 10 gallon tank that is located in a colder part of my home ( low to mid 60s ). It keeps the tank at a very even temp. My older heater was on all the time heating my tank, while this new heater is on way less. The previous heater was also a 50 watt heater.

So far good
Got this the other day after another heater I had purchased was not working. I like how you can adjust it to the temperature you want and it's very easy to see the on light when it's working. It's been keeping my tank at a stable temperature for a few days. I have noticed that it is off by about 3 maybe 4 degrees but that's not a big deal - plus I'm using it in a 10g tank. The one I have is fully submersible and the directions have a picture that clearly shows the whole unit under water. Hopefully it stays working in the weeks to come.

Excellent Mini Heater!!!
I was researching on a good heater for a 1.5gal fish tank, and I came across the Tetra submersible HT 10. It fits very well into the tank, and the heater maintains a constant temperature at 76F. I am satisfied with this heater. However, you cannot change the temperature setting. It has been 3 months since i bought this heater, and i have no complaints yet. My fish is healthy and well heated with this HT10 from tetra.

Great heater
Don't be misled by the information on the packaging that says this heater should not be submersed completely. I called Fluval and was told that they were forced to put that in the instructions and on the unit for the sake of Canadian requirements. The unit is fully submersible and it keeps my aquarium at a more even temperature than any other heater I've purchased. In addition the temperature dial seems to be much more accurate. Good unit! Buy it!

Excellent heater
This is a very nice heater. The reflective surface makes it blend in. It IS submersible and is about 12" long. Like all heaters, you have to tweak it to find out the precise setting .......... no problem. I recommend it.

Good heater; bad camouflage
First, I selected 2 days shipping through Amazon Prime and received this item exactly on time, in the afternoon of the second day. It was packaged in a box with bags of air. I appreciated that since this is a fragile product. The first thing I noticed upon opening the box was that this heater is huge for the wattage. Mine is 50 watts, to be used in a 10 gallon aquarium, and it is almost exactly the same height as the aquarium itself. Then when I put it in the aquarium it became clear that the reflective surface of the heater serves only to make it MORE visible. It just looks like this gleaming shiny metal object in there, and doesn't really seem to actually reflect the colors surrounding it, but instead it reflects the aquarium light above. Because of this I decided to lay it against the bottom back of the aquarium so that it is obscured by plants, and the cord goes right up the seam of the aquarium where it isn't noticeable. If you're buying this for its subtlety, you'll...

So Far, I'm loving this...finally found a decent and reliable heater?
Love the features...absolutely love the fact it has an integrated heater guard....seems well made...love the integrated temp display (BTW mine is showing an accurate temp reading)...love the ease in accurately modifying temp.Longer version: Anyone who is serious about tropical/saltwater healthy fishkeeping should take their water temperature very seriously (unfortunately, it seems few do). In my experience, there are few well-made, reliable heaters out there regardless of how much you are willing to pay (my kingdom for a decent/reliable heater I'd always say!).I used Hagen/Tronics for years and found them to be the best money could buy...(and they were competitively priced, about 40 bucks for a 200W submersible). Another reason I liked the Tronics is that I have heater guards that fit them (another often overlooked concern in my opinion). Unfortunately, they quit making the Tronics and eventually my backups were gone. I have since been on a very frustrating...

Great color coded display
Have this heater now in my fish tank for about a year. The heater itself has a glass housing. The outer casing visible in the picture is plastic. That's great to avoid any fish getting burned by the heater. Target temperature adjustment is straight forward following the instructions. I strongly doubt that any fish could change the adjustment (done by the little red lever which, granted, is in the water as well) as I had read somebody else posting. I use the heater fully submerged. One thing to be aware of is that the heater needs to be in "flowing" water when being mounted vertically. Otherwise the built in temperature sensor will get triggered and report an error (rising warm water will create and "overheat" condition which switches off the heater). I don't have much water flow in my fish tank so I decided to mount the heater horizontally an inch or two above the gravel. Works perfectly this way.The best part of the heater is the color coded built in...

Nice features
I recently upgraded my 55 gallon aquarium heater to the Fluval E Series 300w. It does an excellent job of maintaining temp and comes with a tough exterior cage (prevents disasters). I really enjoy the temp display screen, but some might find the bright light a problem at night (if you're looking for a dark room). I've bought several heaters over the years, from different brands, and this is by far my favorite.

Product Description

The Fluval E Electronic Aquarium Heater with VueTech technology delivers peace of mind by continuously displaying real time water temperature within the set range of 68 and 93 degrees Fahrenheit. Equipped with an advanced digital microprocessor monitoring system with dual temperature sensors, the Fluval E Electronic Aquarium Heater continuously monitors and displays aquarium water temperature, ensuring the well-being of your aquarium inhabitants. If the water temperature changes from the pre-set temperature during normal operation, the temperature display will change colors from green to blue or red depending on severity. The display screen will also flash if the aquarium water temperature excessively rises or falls, indicting a potential risk. The heater is built with a slim mounting bracket that allows the heater to be placed vertically or horizontally and it can be angled for easy viewing. The integrated fish guard offers protection for fish and invertebrates, helping to make the Fluval E Electronic Aquarium Heater one of the most technologically advanced submersible aquarium heaters available. The Fluval E Series comes equipped with an easy to use adjustment lever so the temperature can be set precisely in 0.5 degree increments. By pushing the lever to the left for five seconds, you can change from Celsius to Fahrenheit. If you push the lever to the right or left for one second you can change the set temperature up or down. With the advanced safety that the Fluval E Series offers, fish and invertebrates will not be able to come into direct contact with the heater and the glass sleeve is protected against shocks from large species of fish. With the variations in water temperature the readout changes color to match. When the screen is green, the temperature of the water is in the safe zone. When the screen turns blue, the temperature of the water is too low and when the screen turns red the water temperature is too high. Top to learn more

Glass heaters work just fine if only switched on when submerged and if switched off five/ten minutes prior to removing from the water. Incidentally, a glass heater will only blow up (with a distinctive curved or conchoidal fracture to the tube) in cases where it has been immersed in water whilst already hot.

You can get them in 50 watt, 75 watt, 100 watt, 125 watt, 150 watt, 200 watt, 250 watt and the 300 watt. Eheim makes some pretty bold claims when it comes to how big of a tank one of their heaters can heat, especially compared to other heater brands. So far the only good heater I’ve found is the Eheim Jager, is it a simple looking glass heater. It has a small light which is on when the heater is on, a feature I find useful when using more than one heater in a tank. For example I have two of the 300 watt heaters in my 150 gallon tank, per Eheim two of them should handle twice that but because the room can dip into the 50′s in the winter I need much more wattage to hold the temperatures steady. I’ve purchased 3 of the 300 watt Eheim Jager heaters so far and have yet to have an issue. Aquarium Heaters are something I have not had the best luck with over the years. The Eheim Jager comes with a pretty nice suction cup mount and a much thicker cord than previous heaters I’ve used.
